Rhubarb and Strawberry Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2009
I enjoyed this pie. I did substitute all of the sugar in the pie (except the sprinkle) with splenda.

Rice Seasoning Mix

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2009
This was pretty good. It did add some flavor to the rice for something different. I didn't have the almonds on hand so I am sure that would have added more flavor.

Chocolate Frosting I

Wonderful recipe! Thank you. Per other reviews, I only used 3 cups of sugar and it was just right. The recipe made enough to cover a 9x13 cake generously.

Hudson's Baked Tilapia with Dill Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2009
The sauce was pretty good but I had to use dry dill instead of fresh which I am sure makes a difference. Overall, my family thought traditional tartar sauce was better. 2nd time I made this with fresher dry dill and it was much better. We did not, however, like the sliced lemon on top b/c the fish was very bitter due to the rind. Next time I will just squeeze the juice on it.

Sensational Sirloin Kabobs

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2009
Very good. I usually screw up any Steak type of thing on the grill but this turned out great. Meat was very tender even after only marinating 2 hrs. I also marinated the veggies separately (onion, mushroom, and pepper) which added flavor. Mine were done about about 12 minutes on Med-High heat. A new summer repeater meal!

Maureen's Baked Beans

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2009
I followed the recipe (which is unusual for me) and everyone that I have served this to loved it and have had many people ask me for the recipe. The only thing I did different is to make it in a crock pot, it does get a little soupy but I have not had any complaints.

Beer Butt Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2009
My chicken turned out very moist and flavorful. I did add some generic seasoning for Chicken to the spices to add a little more flavor. I used a large can of Miller Lite from the convenience store. The larger can seemed to hold it pretty steady. Using a disposable aluminum pan made clean up a cinch. I used a thermometer to make sure it was cooked to the right temp on the grill. Used leftover chicken to make chicken salad sandwiches the next day. Will make again! Thanks.

Monte Cristo Sandwich

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2009
I tried this tonight. My favorite restaurant makes these and I always wondered exactly how they made them. I never thought I'd like this, but once I tried it, there was no going back. This version is very much like the one I had with the powdered sugar and raspberry jam. Only difference was their batter was thicker. Still this is good!

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: May 16, 2009
This was pretty good. I have made it twice now and you definitly need to add over 2 tbs. to get flavor to 1 lb. of beef. There still seems to be some missing flavor though. Good starting point.

Sy's Challah

Reviewed: May 8, 2009
Having never made challah before I was looking for a well reviewed basic recipe. This was it! I did not need 24 servings so I reduced the recipe by about half. I used quick rise yeast and it still required more time than the recipe called for, but that could be me who knows. I also added 1/4 cup honey to make it sweet. It was amazing.

Maria's Stuffed Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: May 6, 2009
This dish turned out great but a little salty probably due to the sauce I used. I added one more clove of garlic a couple dashes of Italian seasoning and a dash of nutmeg to the filling. Per other reviews does make way too much filling for 4 breasts. I filled 5 and still had left over. For me, it was easier to cut a slit in the side of the chicken and stuff instead of pounding chicken and rolling which others suggested. Will definitly make again. Update: I froze one left over to have as a lunch portion and defrosted it in the micro and it turned out great.

The Best Bean and Ham Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2009
This was better than I expected even though it had good reviews. I was worried it would be too tomato tasting but it wasn't. The flavor was great and it did make a ton. It was a little too spicy for my kids though so next time I will have to alter the spices so that they can enjoy it with us.

Angel Hair Pasta with Garlic Shrimp and Broccoli

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2009
Kind of made due with what I had so can't really say if it would be better made exactly stated. Used frozen shrimp and fresh broccoli, basil instead of pesto sauce. Don't usually rate something if I haven't followed it exact but I was fairly close to the recipe and it was just okay for our family.

Salsa Chicken Burrito Filling

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2009
This was good and easy made in the crock pot. Per other reviews put frozen chicken breast in the crock pot on High about 3-4 hrs. Instead of tomato sauce used enchilada sauce and cut down on the seasoning packet. Took chicken out of crock and shredded it with sauce. Then I took an additional step and rolled the chicken in tortillas with cheese and poured crockpot sauce over it and baked in the oven with cheese till melted.

Absolutely Fabulous Greek/House Dressing

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2009
Great flavor. Took other review suggestions and cut the recipe down. Used half vinegar and half olive oil and it was still a little too tart so added some sugar to the mix. Next time I will reduce the vinegar even more. Much better than bottled dressing!

Green Bean Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2009
This is a delicious twist to the ever popular 4 bean salad...one that I like better and tastes much fresher! I did make a few changes based on personal preference. I made this using foods I had on hand...to the frozen corn, green beans and peas I added a bag of frozen mixed veggies (the carrots added a punch of color),cut the sugar to 3/4c cup, used 1/4 cup garlic infused olive oil, a teaspoon of tarragon flakes, 1 teaspoon mustard powder and a teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice. I omitted the pimentos, celery & water. Thank you for such a tasty & healthy salad:-)

Pizza Crust Fantastico

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2009
I,too, was compelled to add 1 cup more of flour while the mixture was in the bowl. I added small dustings of flour during the kneading process. As for flavor, this recipe is clearly a five star. I made a thin crust pizza and the crust was crunchy yet easy to bite. Because my sauce has all the herbs in this recipe, I did not add them. Instead, I added Spanish Cracked Anise. (Penzy's.com) After making the pizza crust, I had more than half the recipe remaining. Because of the quantity yeast, I let it rise in a breadpan and baked it as a loaf of bread.(30 min @ 350 degrees.) It turned out a beautiful loaf that is light to eat and very flavorful. Made great toast with butter. I intend to use it for Garlic bread, Bruchetta and croutons.

BUSH'S® Best Spicy Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
This is a fantastic soup!! It makes a bunch and the leftovers get better and better! My boyfriend frowned at the idea of no meat so I made a quick rub for two chicken breasts and placed them on the George Foreman Grill while I was chopping up the veggies for the soup. I shredded the chicken as I read in some of the reviews and it was great. YUMMY!
