Wonderful Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2007
This is a good recipe...I used this to get rid of some stuff I had in the fridge and cupboard. The thing I did though was added half a cup of italian bread crumbs, some salt and pepper to taste, some mrs. dash garlic and herb, large green pepper, and some fresh tomato. I also used about a clove of garlic...I love how moist it comes out with the rice!

Buttery Cooked Carrots

I just got done makeing these - son had friend sleep over and wanted something healthy to go with the mac n cheese (LOL) besides corn. Good but a bit sweet - great way to use up rock hard brown sugar. But sweet is good when it comes to tenagers I guess. Quick and easy too.

Roasted Rack of Lamb

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
When I opened the lamb package I found 2 racks of lamb.7-8 bones each. I was worried because there was only 3 of us eating. No worries though,we ate all but 6 ribs that were ate the next day. A very good recipe. I usally make my lamb in a greek style. But this is very good for a different spin. Very tender, a melt in your mouth good. I will make this again.

This was an awesome recipe! I'm starting to broaden my horizons in the cooking are and I have to admit, I have an affliction for spicy food. I used spicy italian sausage instead because I didn't have the time to run to the gourmet market, but I did find some file powder. I think this is a keeper!

I thought this was great. The chicken wasn't as moist as I would have liked, but it still tasted great! I marinated this for about two hours and the results were very good.

Chocolate Trifle

THIS WAS WONDERFUL!!! EVERYBODY LOVED IT...SCRAPPED THE BOWL...I READ SOME OTHER COMMENTS THAT WERE LEFT AND MADE A FEW SUBSTITUTIONS AS WELL...AND WOULDNT CHANGE A THING. MY FIRST LAYER WAS HALF THE BROWNIES AS STATED, BUT I COOKED THE BROWNIES IN A PAN LINED WITH CARMEL & ALSO FOLDED THE CARMEL ON TOP OF THE BROWIES, SECOND LAYER WAS HALF THE CHOC PUDDING MIX AS STATED AGAIN I MIXED THE PUDDING MIX WITH THE COND. MILK AND ETRA CREAMY WHIPPED TOPPING, THEN THE NEXT LAYER WITH THE WHIPED TOPPING I LAYERED IT WITH TOFFEE AND CARMEL SWIRLS...REPEATED THE LAYERS AND ON THE TOP LAYER I DECORATED IT WITH THE TOFFEE CHIPS, CARMEL SWIRLS AND MINI PEANUT BUTTER CUPS....YUMMMMMM : ) AND AS IF IT WASNT GOOD ENOUGH...NEXT TIME I MIGHT ADD ONE LAYER IN THE MIDDLE OF MARSHMELLOW FLUFF...JUST TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS, BECAUSE THE WAY I DID IT WAS WONDERFUL IN ITS SELF.

Baked Asparagus with Balsamic Butter Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2007
very very yummy! my friend told me about this recipe, and i made it to bring to easter and i made the recipe times four, i was making four bundles. and it turned out great! everyone thought it was a good change from plain old asparagus. my grandma whom is an excellent cook loved it and wanted the recipe. i used real butter instead of cooking spray on the cookie sheet. make sure you cook it to be alittle crispy, keep checking on it though it can burn fast, but you dont want them soggy....

Strawberry Pretzel Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2007
this was pretty good, a friend of mine brought this to work, and everyone loved it, so i decided to make it for a family function. i wouldnt say its the best, but it was worth making i might make it again, because it wasnt too hard and it tasted pretty good. i would suggest really really crushing the pretzels...i thought i did pretty well but while eating it i decided it would of been better if i crushed them to dust! i think it would also be good with fresh strawberrys..would add more of a home cooked dessert taste to it..

Cassata Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2007
This cake was a huge hit! though i gave it 4 out of 5 stars because i was upset before i had a peice. it took me about 5 hours to make this cake. I only had one cake pan, and one mixer going, and made three instead of 2 layers, regurdless its very time consuming, but very worth it. now the reason i was upset was because the filling is so gewy it does not stay between the layers very well, especially since this is a pretty heavy cake. and i was prepared to do some very nice cake decorating, but the filling kept oozing out and mixing in with the frosting, witch by the way i used cheesecake frosting instead of what this recipe required...and it was a big hit, im sure especially because the filling and the cheescake frosting mixed a bit on the outside as well...yumm...also due to the three layers, witch i decided to do because two didnt look enough...the cake was tipping a little bit, i think if the filling wasnt so slippery and alittle more solid it would have worked better, but hey it taste good...sooo...i am definetly going to make this cake again...however, i am going to use two layers and make each layer with an extra 1/2 the amount to make them alittle bigger...before i put the filling in im gonna hallow the cake alittle bit so the filling will stay in better...and im still gonna use the cheesecake frosting because is was such a big hit...also im gonna buy another cake pan hahaha...

Easy Apple Crisp with Honey

This was absolutely wonderful. I omitted the lemon juice and added a 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder for the topping and baked it for almost an hour. My boyfriend and I were very pleased with the results. I'll definitely make this again!

Cream Cheese Pickles

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2006
I don't have patience to spread cream cheese on a damp pickle so I did it in layers----first the tortilla then place the meat on that - then more cream cheese on the meat and then the pickle. Less hassle but same great results - these are a hit for any ocassion.

I alsways looks for 'new' ways to get my kid to eat "yucky" vegetables - although he didn't like them - I did and WILL make again. However, the name should be changed - LOL

This was great! I used half beef broth and water for a little extra flavor, but less salt. I dropped in a half a can of green beans to give it some extra color. We ate it with crusty rolls and salad!

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2006
OK folks - I made the dough last night and a little FYI - if you want to make a loaf - do NOT let it rise for the full hour. It "poofed" wonderfully but sank as soon as I set it on the counter. (I let my bread rise in a preheated & turned off oven) Not one to waste - I baked it (350 for 20 mins) When it came out it was heavenly. Light, airy & just plain good. Another little FYI - do not put a "not quite cooled yet" loaf in a plastic bag & into the fridge. This morning it was quite heavy & dense. Will try again and watch as it rises and maybe separate into 2 pans. But the taste was still as awesome.

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2006
These were great! I decided to follow another user's directions and add a splash of red wine vinegar (in place of the sherry that I didn't have) and it pretty much ruined the gravy beyond belief. Don't use vinegar! I luckily had an instant brown gravy mix that I whipped up last minute. Thank God you have to remove the meat or else it would have been ruined too! The way I saved it was great and I ate it on top of white rice.

Awesome Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2006
I tried this recipe again tonight - I like the idea of an oven - i can put it in there and forget about it for a few minutes.......I buttered only the edges but this time it came out "soggy" in the middle....perhaps due to adding leftover ham. I did the 6 mins per side twice and the edges were crispy (borderline burnt) but soggy in the center. Son loved them but I prefer the whole slice crisping up. But it's worth the 5 starts for the fix it and forget it aspect. I also used leftover bread machine potato bread - altho good - if slices aren't just right - this can happen...I think.
