Grandma's Eggless, Butterless, Milkless Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2008
This was just o.k.. It took longer to bake than directions indicated and now I understand why you NEED eggs, butter and milk to make a cake taste like a cake. If you have food allergies or on a saturated fat free diet, this would be better than no cake at all - I served it with fresh strawberries, whipped cream and chocolate sauce so it was pretty good that way...Didn't really notice the Eggless, Butterless and Milkless Cake. My family rated it with the 3 stars for o.k. Only make it again if I'm out of eggs and craving cake.

BLT Iceberg Wedge

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2008
Great old recipe! We sometimes forget the simplest are best. My mom used to make this with her homemade mayo dressing, 40 years ago. She would add a hard boiled egg on the side to make it a complete lunch for us..I love it with red onion and blue cheese dressing and double the BACON!!

Traditional Pita Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2008
It was good as pizza dough but wasn't even close to the consistency of pita bread. I was bummed.

San Francisco Sourdough Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2008
I bake breads regularly and have been searching for the perfect sourdough recipe. This most certainly wasn't it. It tasted like plain ole white country bread. It was a very disappointing sourdough bread.

Vegetarian Chickpea Curry with Turnips

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2008
I had lots of leftover Turnips from my winter crop so gave this a shot. I used a whole red bell bepper and turnip and well as WAY increased the spiciness factor. It was pretty good.

Hot Mustard Popcorn

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2008
I made this recipe for a birthday party and it had an almost bitter taste. Most of it did get eaten but only late in the evening when nothing else was left. I was so disappointed as the recipes sounds delicious. I certainly won't use it again.

Mini Sweet Potato Samosas

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2008
I added sauted onion and garlic and I left out the onion packet mix (too easy and not creative enough). I added in a just a little tumeric and curry powder and baked them a bit longer than called for, for extra crunchiness. Lastly, I served them with three little bowls of sauces... dijon thinned with white wine, spicy BBQ sauce, and soy sauce. Delicious!

I love this recipe!!! I like to add about 2 tablespoons of sugar to it and I also have added a can of CHOPPED GREEN CHILES to give it a Mexican flare!

French Toast I

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2007
This recipe was absolutely delicious! I've always been used to the "just use eggs" batter for French toast, but this recipe is -way- more delicious, and the toast turned out just right!

Greek Pasta and Beef

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2007
It was...moderately good. The macaroni had a distinctly greasy taste to it, and any actual taste it had wasn't too strong. I did halve the recipe since only three people would be eating it, but that should have kept the proportions right for all the flavors to still come through.

Connoisseur's Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2007
DELISCIOUS! I made this for Christmas dinner and everyone loved it! I have since started Weight Watchers and made some changes like using fat free soup and cheese and low fat sour cream. I also omitted the crackers, almonds and butter and it was still very good and diet friendly!

One Bowl Brownies

Reviewed: May 18, 2006
These brownies were delicious! Mildy crunchy on top, and soft and chewy in the middle, and not gooey at all. I did change the recipe a bit; I took out the nuts, put a layer of hershey's syrup over the top, and also added a thick layer of chocolate icing (triple chocolate explosion!) Three of my friends cleaned up half of them in under two minutes. Delicious, and easy!
