Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: May 17, 2008
Excellent recipe! I try a different frosting recipe every time I make cake but the search is over. Even my anti-frosting really liked it. Just added cocoa powder to make chocolate. I also added one tsp of butter extract. Otherwise I followed the recipe exactly. Not overly sweet and not greasy in my mouth.

Chicken Makhani (Indian Butter Chicken)

Reviewed: May 6, 2008
I make this recipe but I like to use chicken on the bones for more flavor and I use a whold carton of plain yogurt and and I use some honey in the sauce after it cooks to take away the bitterness and I use some curry in the sauce and use crushed tomatoes and it turns out awesome.

Best Bruschetta Ever

Reviewed: May 6, 2008
I prefer to use fresh basil and 1/2 olive oil with 1/2 real butter and mix with this the tomatoes and garlic I use small loaf of french or italian bread or even bread sticks and slice them and top the ingredients on and broil them under the broiler for just minutes but you have to watch them they brown fast..

Pizza Bake with Sausage and Pepperoni

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2008
OK, I'm going to be one of those annoying people that says it was great and then tells you the million changes I made, lol It is a great base recipe though and you can build upon it. All my changes are based on a 13x9 casserole dish for amount. I have a big family and like leftovers. Anyway, we used 12oz egg noodles instead of elbow. We also doubled the amount of cheese. I sauteed onions, mushroom and the yellow pepper in some butter, salt and pepper. I cut back the amount of sausage and only did 5 sausages (cut up) in the casserole. It seemed like to much sausage to double it. With the extra veggies and cheese it came out great.

Butterscotch Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2008
This was a good base fruit salad. I wasn't able to use nuts due to allergies so I had to add other things to give it some more flavor. I think with the nuts it would have had a yummy taffy apple flavor. Without the nuts I added coconut, maraschino cherries and mini marshmallows

Judy's Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2008
Very yummy. The perfect balance of salt and sweet....not a strong cheesecake flavor if that's what you are looking for. I increased the pretzels to two cups and made sure not to over crush them. I think if they were crushed really fine it would be harder to get out the pan. I also used some non-stick spray to make it easier to get out. I increased the jello to 9ounces but that filled the pan to the tippy top and made it a little tricky to get in the fridge without spilling but it turned out good. I thawed the berries enough to slice and then refroze. Topped with cool whip. Good stuff!

Black Joe Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2008
Quick and tasty and just right for a low-budget household like mine. I did make a few minor changes, though: I reduced the sugar and doubled the cocoa. Next time I'm going to put in chocolate chips yet to make it chocolatier.

Juicy Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2008
When I first read this recipe I thought to myself... who needs a recipe for roast chicken! Aparently I did because it was the best chicken I have ever made. I have been cooking for 30 years and this was by far the best chicken ever. I followed the recipe exactly as written, and am very glad I did. If you have tried this before and added your own touches... please try it again as written! It's wonderful!

Angie's Perfect Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2008
This is the best recipe for rolls I have ever tried! The rolls are wonderful. I read the reviews before I tried it and was prepared to have extra flour on hand. I didn't need extra at all! As a matter of fact I had maybe a half cup left over. I was also worried about the softened butter encorporating well in the milk. But it worked just fine once you being to mix in the flour. I followed the recipe exactly as written. I can't wait to make these again and neither can my family!

Homemade Butter

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2008
I made this when my kids where small. I was homeroom mom, and I put the ingredients in a plastic jar and let the kids take turns shaking it. The kids got a major kick out of making butter this way, and a bigger kick out of eating what they got to make!!! It's just wonderful!!!

Mable's Potato Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2008
I loved this cookie. I do wish however that the size of the potatoe was stated. I used a really large one and had to use more sugar... then I ended up with to much sugar I think. But it came out ok, and everyone ate it up. I think a medium sized potato would have worked the best.

Bagels I

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2008
They were gone an hour after i had them baked. My husband and kids were eating them as they came out of the oven! I didnt shape them as bagles though. I rolled them into sticks, and added cracked pepper to the flour before I mixed it so we could have them for dinner. The only other thing I changed in the recipe is how I boiled them. I boiled them in a large pot. I am way too lazy to stand there turning bagles. When they float, you know they are done! much easier!!!

Grandma's Noodles I

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2008
I tried these noodles last night. I followed teh recipe exactly as written and there was about 1.5 cups of flour left. I added more eggs, 2 mor ein fact to get teh flour to mix and incorporate. I wish now that I would have used a little milk or water. The noodles are not bad, but I think the addition of the eggs may have made them a bit more chewy than I would have liked. If you use this recipe I would try using a little milk if it is too dry. How much will probably depend on your egg size. I used large eggs and still ended up using 2 additional eggs. All in all... they didnt taste too bad.. but I won't use this one again.
