My Best Beef Brisket

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2008
The meat turned out really well--I also cut the cooking time--but I feel there is too much liquid smoke. My daughter loved the meat because it tasted like bacon, but I didn't care for it.

Bowler Beef Marinade

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2008
I used this on tenderloin I served to company, and I got nothing but compliments. The only change I had to make was to use dried ginger. I'm sure when I make it with fresh ginger it will be even better.

Spinach and Tortellini Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2008
I used fresh spinach and grape tomatoes, which I left whole. I also served the dressing separately, since my kids don't like it and my husband likes way more than I do. Five star fresh recipe. However, the leftovers weren't that great, and since I had enough for my husband and I to have it for lunch, it was disappointing.

Johnny's Grub Rub

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2008
I thought it was too spicy; my husband loved it. I did add oil so the rub would stick to the meat, and that may be why it was so spicy. I am going to use it again because it has a great flavor, probably just reduce the amount of rub on my steak.

Chocolate Frosting I

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
Very good chocolate frosting. I used 3/4 cup Ghirardelli cocoa powder and 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar. I put the powdered sugar in a little at a time to blend into a very nice frosting. This frosting is a little stiff, but it is just what I wanted. Nice and fudge tasting. Held up to sitting out all day at birthday party.

Pina Colada Cake III

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2008
This cake is super-moist, easy to make and DELICIOUS! I added the toasted coconut that another user suggested and substituted Malibu Coconut Rum instead of regular rum. This is a definite keeper!

Marinade for Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2008
Wow! What a great recipe! I marinated the chicken for about four hours and it was so tender and flavorful. Everyone was asking for the recipe. I think it will be even better with steak and can't wait to try that. Definitely going in my "keeper binder!"

Black Bean and Salsa Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2008
This is an awesome soup! I did add a shake or two of Tocasco sauce, juice from about 1/4 lime, and about 1/4 tsp dried cilantro. I left half of the beans whole like other reviewers suggested. It makes an awesome soup and is a great side for a panini sandwich.

Ali's Amazing Bruschetta

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2008
This was very good. Made a few minor changes. I added a teaspoon of balsamic vinegar, and a pinch of salt. I dipped one side of thin sliced french bread in a good olive oil, then lightly dusted them with garlic powder and Parmesan Cheese. I put them on a cookie sheet and baked in a 400 degree oven, turning them over after 10 minutes. Baked these until they were a light brown. I served these toasts next to the bowl of bruschetta. I did not toast the bread with bruschetta mixture on top.

Spicy Filet Mignon

Reviewed: May 2, 2008
I know I am going against the popular vote, but I did not like the flavor of these. I am very experimental with my food and love trying new and different things, but I felt the flavor did not mesh with the meat. I am glad I tried it, but I won' be making it again.

Caramel Bars

The best caramel bars I've had! Thanks for the tips on making them in an 8x8 pan, it worked out great! They are a little sweet so I cut mine really small, but other than that they are perfect. I'll be keeping this recipe :)

Italian Peas

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2007
This is an awesome recipe. When I went to cook dinner, the only vegetables I had were peas and my husband hates peas. I found this recipe and he really liked them! I didn't have chicken stock, so I used beef broth. I also cooked it in an iron skillet, which I think also added to the taste. Definitely going in my "keeper" binder!

Artichoke Bites II

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2007
These did not do well with my crowd. They were okay, but the store-bought quiches were more popular, which rarely happens to me. I have a lot left over and I don't think they will be eaten. I may try it again with more artichokes, but I'm not sure. Sorry.

Lindsay® Olive Tea Sandwiches

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2007
Made these exactly as written, and they were great. Disappeared first, and I only got one. I'm making more as soon as my house is clean! ADDED 1/1/08 I have made these several times and they are always a popular item. What I do now to save time and effort is mix the cream cheese in with everything else and just spread it all together. Saves a step and is just as good.

French Baguettes

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2007
This bread turned out beautifully, and what a simple recipe! I was using this for a garlic pesto bread, so when the dough was rolled out flat on the counter, I smeared roasted garlic all over it. That added a very subtle garlic flavor, and was a huge hit with my family. Yes, I too will be using this recipe over and over.

Cinnamon Coffee Cake II

Wow! This was an amazing cake! I used coffee in the place of water and chocolate pudding instead of butterscotch and it was scrumptious! It made a beautiful bundt cake and also works well as cupcakes/muffins.
