Three Bean and Artichoke Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2008
I made this recipe for a recent BBQ i attended, and the salad was a hit! I just swapped roasted red peppers for the artichokes because they were not at my grocery store. Very light and not sweet, like typical bean salads are. I even got a compliment from one person, saying he loved it because it did not have too many kidney beans in it, like other bean salads he had tried. I would defintiely make this simple, easy, fast recipe again!

Thirty Minute Yellow Cake

Reviewed: May 8, 2008
I had changed a little with this recipe, I added a little baking powder, and some vanilla. I also used half shortening and half butter. It still did not help the bland taste. I do not reccomend this recipe.

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2008
Excellent!!! I love that you can add your favorite items. I added a can of corn and used 2 tortillas for each layer with some refried beans between each. Will definitely make again and again.

Sloppy Joes II

Excellent. The only change I made was to double the sauce recipe as other's suggested. Will definitely make these again and again.

Vicki's Hush Puppies

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2008
These are awesome. I tried another recipe on this site and was very disappointed. I had to try another recipe since I still had the taste for hush puppies. I took suggestions from others and cut the amount of sugar down to 1/4 cup, added garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt and black pepper. I also added a can of creamed corn and the batter was perfect, no milk needed. Let the batter sit for 10 minutes before frying. I can't wait to make these again.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2008
I love this recipe! My husband and I like denser banana bread so I followed the suggestion from previous reviewer to fold dry ingredients in. Kind of had to anyway because this is a SERIOUS amount of batter and wouldn't have fit combined in my kitchenaid mixer bowl. I decided to use Chinese Five Spice (anise, star anise, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg) instead of cinnamon/nutmeg in recipes and previous suggestions and love the little spicy bite it gives. The idea of the sugar/cinnamon "dusting" was wonderful. I think I used too much but don't care because as it cooled it formed a crunchy crust! Mmmmm... Thank you so much for this wonderful recipe!

Honey Graham Crackers

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2008
Overall, this recipe is really good. Make sure you flour your work space and dough well before rolling it out. Also, the dough seemed easier to work with after it sat out on the counter for a few minutes. My fondant rolling pin worked best for this dough. I was able to get it thin enough to resemble a store-bought graham cracker. I used the smallest size from my biscuit cutter set to make graham rounds, sprinkled them with cinnamon/sugar and baked them for 8 minutes. They came out perfect. Once cooled, I scooped a small amount of light whipped topping and made mini sandwiches. They are a great light snack or guiltless dessert.

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2008
This recipe is excellent. I used German Chocolate Cake with Carmel Pecan frosting. I dipped them in milk chocolate and then swirled white chocolate on top, all 3 hours before bringing them to my mom's house.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2008
As my husband was eating these he stated that he was going to be sad when he was done. That is a winning comment for me. I followed the suggestions and decreased the salt and added vanilla extract. Using a ΒΌ measuring cup, I got 15 good sized pancakes. Will definitely make these again.

Beef and Bean Chimichangas

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2008
We loved these! Took suggestions from other reviewers and used Taco Seasoning Mix and chopped chilies instead of the taco sauce and green pepper. I also added a jar of salsa and a can of olives to the mix. I made 9 large ones for me and my husband. He told me not to bother freezing any, they won't last past the weekend.

Turkey Breakfast Sausage

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2008
We really did not like this recipe. I made it exactly according to the recipe except I cut the salt down a little because other reviewers suggested it is not necessary. My husband and I found them to be bland, dry, and smelling only of turkey. If I were to make this again I would double the spices and add something for moisture such as bread crumbs soaked in egg beaters. I really was disappointed - we so badly wanted this recipe to work out. I had to put hot sauce on mine just to make it edible!
