Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2008
they were fluffy... and a bit tasteless. also, the grease seeped through the cupcake liners; perhaps that's why they were tasteless, but otherwise we would've had greasy muffins.

Pesto Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2008
i don't have a food processor... yet, so i just used the blender that was available. this was tasty. i only made for one though because i'm usually the only one in the family who's tongue is cultured. i'll make sure i share this with someone who loves pasta as much as i do. by the way, i added baby scallops, and didn't add the walnuts right away. i tasted both version, and i prefer the one without.

Cinnamon Rolls I

hmm... this is my third attempt on cinnamon rolls... all have different problems - this one was a bit dry. i'll probably try it again just so i know "it's not me," or is it?

Easy Crescent Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2008
i think i over-baked these. i was looking for the color instead of trusting my instincts, and the bread didn't come out as nice as i know it could have. i added some chocolate morsels, walnuts on others, and plain on the rest. the first ones were the first to go.

Blueberry Quick Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2008
i halved the recipe; and although, i really enjoyed it, my family didn't. they didn't think it was moist enough for bread. sorry :[. i really wanted to give it more stars especially since this was my first blueberry loaf.

Cream Puffs

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2008
i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong but this is my third recipe for cream puff. i think the batter is pretty much the same; the fillings are just a little different. these are tasty, but i wish my puffs would actually "puff" a lot more than one and a half inch. (my batter looks to liquidy... even when i chill it.) what am i doing wrong? over beating?

Cream Puffs II

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2008
this is my second recipe for cream puffs, and like the first one (with three tries, EXCEPT the very first attempt), the batter was too runny for me. i baked it anyway and chilled the rest of batter. the second batch was not as runny as the first, they plumped up but when i took them out of the oven, they went flat on me. could humidity play a big part of my dilemma?

Frog Cupcakes

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2008
the direction said to cut the marshmallow in half to make two circles... however, my "eyes" kept slipping off because of the arc shape all around. next time, rather than cutting length to length... i'll cut it from width to width forming only an arc at the top and flat surface at the bottom. (overall, very very cute and 3 kids and husband enjoyed them. thanks for the idea.)

Dirty Snow Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2008
the cake is... blah. there's practically no taste there. the oreo cookie diminished its flavor when baked, it also went soft. for some of the batter (i made cupcakes) i added one whole cookie in addition to the crumbs, and they stayed crisp. they were also a little foamy... like sponge scrub. out of the six children (ages 2-8) i offered this to, all took a bite; but only one continued and finished half of the cupcake. maybe yellow cake will be better next time around.

Neapolitan Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2008
it probably looks wonderful in a bundt cake as recommended but i had to make individual bake sale sizes and turned them into cupcakes. they looked kind of messy and rainbow-ish, and different at the same time, but they didn't taste any different than white cake. perhaps adding more flavor will do.

Oatmeal Cake III

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2008
i accidently overbaked these because i left my oven at 400 but knew i had to get them out as soon as i smelled the flavor. i made exactly 22 cupcakes with these (pour water over the 2 empty slots) and even though i overbaked them, they were fantastically moist. i will be making again! this time i'll remember to bake them at 350 for 25-30 mins

Graham Cracker Pudding Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2008
i made three different versions of this - crackers with chocolate pudding, crackers with white chocolate pudding, and crackers with white chocolate pudding and chocolate frosting. the first one was too plain, the second too boring, and the third was just right. i didn't have chocolate pudding anymore so i used the frosting instead, and alternate the pudding and frosting to make layers. i also sprinkled with nuts as per my husband's request. delicious.

Pecan Tarts

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2008
THESE are a little too sweet. they puffed up when i pulled them out of the oven but deflated after a minute. like any other tart recipe, i made a variety - pecans, walnuts with choco chips, raisins, and cereal. what i do is i just add a tablespoon or more of the choices in the molded crust, mix the filling then pour it over the "variety" and crust. i didn't double the recipe and made 24 regular cupcake sizes. (by the way, i don't roll the dough. i divide it by 2. take one and divide it by 4, then divide those by 3s. repeat for the other one, and ask help from my 5 year old daughter to mold the doughs :D).

Greek Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2008
these are refreshingly good after so much chocolate chip cookies. i was expecting a "melt in your mouth" like someone stated, but i guess she wasn't being literal. i took them out at 10 minutes and the center looked a little unbaked so, i baked them for a couple more minutes and they were just right. also, the batch gave me a little less than 6 dozens.

Chocolate Mint Candies Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2008
i had to find out what the rave was all about and i must say, i'm pretty glad i was a curious cat with this one. this recipe is EXACTLY the same as the chocolate mint cookies I in the site, except the topping is different. if you're wondering, without the topping this cookie taste like brownies in a cookie form. and another thing, i used some hershey's huggs to substitute the andes, and they didn't spread nicely but they were tasty. (overall, delicious but not the best.)

Shortbread Cookies II

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2008
these cookies are not for rolling. i thought i could roll them but i just became frustrated after trying. i don't have a cookie press so i decided to roll the dough in balls. i then pressed the dough and left an indention for my strawberry preserves, baked them at least 15 minutes and they came out wonderfully delicious. they are really very soft. maybe i should bake them more to form a little crisp at the edges. 5 stars for the simplicity!

Mini Pineapple Upside-Down Cakes

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2008
the presentation was wonderful, however the taste was too sweet!, and plain. i made 12 jumbo cupcakes and 1 20 oz pineapple was enough. i also made this with pillsbury mix and only required 1 cup of juice/water. if you're using betty crocker, use 1 & 1/4 (just as the recipe calls for); for dh, i believe it's 1 & 1/3. then again... look for another recipe, and use the same cupcake concept. -- UPDATE (5 minutes later) -- i did a brief research on similar cakes and one of the recipe called for cinnamon in the batter. i've already baked the cake so i sprinkled the cinnamon on top. it was TASTY! so... keeping that in mind, i'll probably be making this again :).

White Velvet Cutouts

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2008
wow. these cookies are terribly delicious. i made several variety of cookies from the same dough; i sprinkled colored sugar on some, melted chocolate chips on the top for the others, placed raspberry preserves on a little bit, and left the rest plain. the plain one was the best. you can taste the authenticity of the cookie. and although i almost gave up because the dough was just too darn sticky, i'm glad the cookies didn't turn out to be too "floury" (i added about a cup more). they were perfect.
