Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
I guess I was expecting a lot out of this cookie after reading all the great reviews. I´m making christmas cookies for a bake sale and although they taste good, they did not make the final cut. My dad liked them ok, but he agrees they´re a bit too simple.

Sweet and Sour Sauce I

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2009
Gosh, I´m sorry but this just didn´t cut it. I tasted it as i was making it and it wasn't good. I tried adding orange juice and other tweaks, but that didn´t help much. I served it anyway, warning my family that it wasn´t an ordinary sns sauce, it didn´t taste as bad with the spring rolls and chicken, but definitely not what i was hoping.

The Best Meatballs

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2009
I don´t know what to say about this recipe. I was really excited about it when I read all the great reviews, but was skeptical about the recipe. I tried it anyway, with no adjustments at all. It wasn´t bad, but it wasn´t great. When I make meatballs, there are usually none leftover. This time my family ate about half and didn´t ask for leftovers the next day. I guess this is a good recipe for someone who has never made meatballs before and would like a good base. I´m gonna stick with my original meatball recipe for now.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2009
I´ve made these cookies twice now in the same month. They´re pretty good. The only thing I would say is: the first time I made them, I eyed the ingredients and added maybe less baking soda than needed and the cookies were spread out nicely. I just finished making them again (I measured soda this time) and they came out like in your picture. Almost like little puffy biscuits. I would add less baking soda next time but will be making again. Oh and I have made these in the middle of a cookie crave with few ingredients on hand, so I never freeze the dough, but still turn out great.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2009
These cookies are pretty good, I like that they are very soft. I used fresh ginger and didn´t really measure it, but I think I put just the right amount. The only thing for me is that they didn´t rise well at all, I´m glad I didn´t flatten them. I usually get more cookies out of the doughs by making smaller balls, but this made exactly 24 normal sized cookies. Will most probably make again, though.

Cherry Cobbler I

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2009
I had never had cobbler before, so I didn´t know what to expect. As per other reviews, I halved the sugar on both the batter and the water and I thought it was just right. I also added vanilla extract to the batter. It was pretty good, my family liked it, I would probably make this again, but I would still like to check out other cobbler recipes.

Sea Bass Cuban Style

Wow, Kiki you got it right, this is amazing! Because I was serving just the two of us, I used 1 can Italian tomatoes, cut the wine by half, used extra garlic, capers, chili flakes and cilantro; less olives, and just 1 cup onion. It was delicious, and we will make this again, not just for us, company too. Thanks so much for sharing!!

Simple But Awesome Lemon Pepper Pork Chops

Reviewed: May 31, 2009
I made this as a slight change to my usual pork chop recipe, and it was good, though I would not necessarily say awesome. It´s incredibly simple and quick, so that´s always hepful. I have to say that I didn´t use nearly half as much butter or oil, so I recommend using less to save a few calories.

Heavenly Shortbread

Reviewed: May 20, 2009
This is a great recipe, possibly the best shortbread since it´s not just delicious but also very easy to make. I only had two sticks of butter, so I halved the recipe and rolled the dough into little balls. They baked in about 11 minutes. They are fantastic by themselves, but I also brushed some with lemon glaze. Thank you for the recipe.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2009
Wow. They were awful. I followed the recipe exactly as it is, and even experimented different baking times, refrigerating the dough and not. They were awful, too sweet, and only stayed chewy a few minutes after baked. I don´t know what to do with them, my family agreed we sould give them away to homeless people or throw them out. I was very dissapointed. Terrible.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
Okay, I don´t know why I procrastinated so long for making this. It took me about 3 hours rising time included but it was totally worth it. I followed the recipe exactly, also added ground clove and I cannot even begin to say how great they are. I made them by hand and it wasn´t so hard to make. I also used wheat flour and they took between 15 and 20 mins to be done. You cannot die without trying this, you will be the hit of every party from now on. Oh, another good tip is when you let it rise: Boil a pot of water and put it on the bottom rack of the turned off oven and the dough on the top rack for it to rise in a warm and moist place. Superb!!

Mall Pretzels

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2009
In flavor, they are good, but I did not like the fact that they were so thin (I rolled them pencil thin) and maybe it was my oven, but they were hard to bake because they either came out looking uncooked and on the soft side or crunchy and a bit too browned. They did not taste bad, but I would not make these again.
