Belgium

With a stunning number of pubs and restaurants, Belgium earns more Michelin stars per capita than anyone else. Flavors are strongly French with a Dutch-German accent. Typical dishes include mussels mariniere, anguilles en vert (eels in green herbs), and waterzooi (chicken cream soup). The Belgians brought the world the endive, the waffle, and limburger cheese; extraordinary chocolates and pastries. Belgian beer is diverse and superb; each type is served in a glass shaped to bring out its flavor. Perhaps most famous is Belgian lambic, fruity, dry and effervescent, and quality-controlled by the European Union.

About me:
I was born in Belgium (March 29, 1980) and grew up in France, then came back to Belgium. When I finished high school, I had the opportunity to spend one year in an American college (in Tifton, Ga). Back in my country, I had to cook for myself... but I'm a picky eater with a sweet tooth, so I began looking for more sophisticated recipes. Looking for a particular recipe, I found this site that is, in my opinion, the best on the net.

Curry Carrot-Leek Soup

Reviewed on Oct. 12, 2008 by SunFlower
I like carrots, I like leeks and I like curry but I didn't really like this soup. I don't know what went wrong. Maybe the kind of curry powder I used?

Carrot Burgers

Reviewed on Oct. 12, 2008 by SunFlower
These burgers are amazing! Great taste and texture, just as good warm or cold. I shredded the carrots as per other reviews and they hold together perfectly. I also used cilantro instead of celery. Next time, I'll try to use something healthier than corn flakes, though.

Gobi Aloo (Indian Style Cauliflower with Potatoes)

Reviewed on Oct. 12, 2008 by SunFlower
I really liked this dish even if I'm not a huge fan of cauliflower. I know Gobi Aloo isn't supposed to be saucy but I had a can of cubed tomatoes so that I could serve it on rice.
