Dried Cherries, Pecans and Rosemary Brie en Croute

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
Sorry! This one is a no-go. The rosemary overpowered, and the cherries didn't save the day like I thought they would. In the future, I will stick to Paula Deen's Brie en Croute with brown sugar and pecans.

Blue Cheese Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
can't say it was not good, 'cause it was quite well liked. Only, I expected something different: I prepared it for a brunch and it came out as a pie with a crumbly crust. And was received as a pie by everybody, nobody at all questioned the matter. As I had leftovers and some other people to dinner 2 days later, I decided to warm it and serve it cut into little morsels, with onion and cider chutney. Well, it's been a hit!

Haunting Hot Chocolate

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2009
I loved this recipe. I looked all over the web to find something with minimal ingredients that would also be tasty. Being a missionary in a foreign country can sometimes prove difficult with I can't run down to the local Walmart to pick up ingredients so I love finding recipes that are easy with few ingredients. This was a great recipe. It reminded me of the hot cocoa out family always gets at a local amusement park in Texas when we're home for furlough. I made one fop-pa, I used full fat powdered milk and it was not a pretty site. The taste was great but I couldn't get the milk to dissolve all the way. After a full day of snow my family loved this cocoa with a ton of marshmallows piled on top. Thanks for a great keeper!!

Briam (Greek Mixed Vegetables in Tomato Sauce)

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
Delicious! If you are using 1/2 cup olive oil, you don't need to add water, just cover the pan with aluminum foil. It should be done in about 1 hour or less at 400F. Serve with freshly baked bread! Thank you for the wonderful recipe!

Pretty darn good! I too added a little vinegar to the sauce, and it helped a lot. I like that it is one of the only recipes that works without a slow cooker, and works well.

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Delicious basic recipe, and I like that it is so easy and flexible. The other reviewers are right, though-- if you want a less cream cheesy frosting, make the butter and cream cheese in equal amounts!

Easy Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2009
I sautéd fresh garlic in olive oil, then marinated the chicken for about 2 hours. On top of the bread crumbs I drizzled some more olive oil. It was ok.... it just seemed a little dry.

Delish! I used a loaf pan and still cooked for just 45 minutes, and served with nutmeg whipped cream... the cake texture is moist, and the flavor is soooo wonderful. I followed other reviewers, and added double the spices-- and am glad I did!

Baked Brie in Puff Pastry

I used some blueberry&raspberry preserve, and nuts, and had the cutest little bries... they were pretty, if a little grasy, with melted cheese and all. Quite unusual but nobody raved about it, I must say...

Great!!!It is one of the most famous dessert, especially at holidays, Christmas and New Years eve. In Corfu, it is the most favorite dessert at Saint Spyridon's day, which is the most glory day on the whole island! They could be even without the eggs. And without putting on the honey surop but some powdered sugar with a lot of cinnamon!!!Delicious!!!

The only difficulty is to gather all the ingredients. Apart from this, it's an easy, full of flavor recipe, very suitable for Christmas present. It makes 3 medium-sized cakes.

Greek Penne and Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
Really delicious basic recipe. I used no artichokes at all, since my husband wouldn't touch them, but instead added plenty of oregano, 1/2 cup of chicken stock, and 1/2 cup of parmesan to the lemony sauce... then one pat of butter at the very end. It came out light, creamy and delicious, very flavorful without the marinated artichokes. And of course, you can't go wrong with feta, pasta, chicken, and tomatoes! :) A big hit.

Pear Pie II

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
Great way to use up almost-gone pears. I did use more than the recipe called for-- 5 instead of 3-- simply because that is what I had laying around and they were smallish. It worked beautifully. Used vanilla instead of almond, and it still came out superb. I was nervous about a custard filling being fiddly, but it was a breeze-- great recipe!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
Wish I could give 4 1/2 stars! The taste and texture of these is definitely a 5+... but the dough is soooo gooey, it is a pain to work with even after 3 hours in the fridge. It did get easier as it went, since I got more heavyhanded with flouring the work surface! :) All in all, the awesome taste wins the day!! 5 stars, big hit! *NOTE* I did NOT add extra sugar as some reviewers suggested. Maybe it would have helped the gooeyness? Still, in the end I like the lighter taste with just 1 cup-- especially since I frosted most of them. I suggest if you are frosting them, stick with one cup and use a lot of flour when you roll them out.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

I added 1/3 cup extra cocoa and reduce the flour by 1/3 cup to make these even more rich. I love that, because you can eat less and still get that chocolate fix. Great with milk. Simple the best cookie recipe I have ever found. Baked for exactly 9 minutes.

Georgia's Famous Holiday Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2009
I thought this was a little to bland for my taste buds, sorry.......I did a little changing by adding in a few extra ingredients to go with my taste. I added in garlic (thats a must for me) about 4 cloves very finely chopped, chives and about 1/4cup chopped walnut mixed everything in and shapped it into a ball. Its even better the day after.
