Nutty Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2007
i made these one day when I was ill because they were quick and I had mushrooms in the fridge that I didn't want to go off. My boyfriend was impressed, more than impressed, we had a party a week later and he asked me a few times to make them again so I did. i ended up making 33 of them, he liked them the first time round so much that he said he changed his mind no one else but him is allowed to eat them lol. They were an absolute hit! he took too long and didn't even get to eat one! they were gone in no time! The only change I made was I cooked the stems in Extra Virgin Olive Oil and sprinkled some garlic salt over them! Supurb recipe, I'll take pictures next time!

Cheese and Sausage Appetizers

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2007
I can't give them a 5 because I have to eat them myself to do that! but my boyfriend enjoyed them the day i made them...and the next, and the next! although they weren't perfect balls and they didn't look like the ones in the picture that's up. Still if people eat them, who cares what they look like! Thanks for the recipe, I'm sure I'll get a 'remember when you made those sausage things' sometime soon

Sesame Chicken with Honey Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2007
Made these for my b/f's daughters birthday party and they were among one of the first things to disappear. I've been told to make them for all family gatherings. Thank you for a wonderful recipe. The dip was also being used for crisps (chips) as well as the chicken so an A+++ recipe. Thank you

No one would eat them. tried to give em to the kids and they tried them but not one liked them. My Boyfriend said they were alright, I don't like what's in them so decided not to try them. Easy and quick to make though!

Smoked Salmon Sushi Roll

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2007
I make this recipe often with a few variations: 1.as others have suggested, I add sugar to the rice mix 2.I don't use as much rice per roll as shown in the picture, it's too much 3.I sometimes substitute very fresh tuna for the salmon 4. I add thinly sliced scallions to the cuke / avocado. I love this served with a sweet soy dipping sauce containing 3T soy, 2T sake or sherry, 1T brown sugar and a sprinkling of sesame seeds! Another good dip for those who like chilli is to use 4T soy, 1T rice vinegar, dash of hot chilli oil and some red pepper flakes. LOVELY!!!! Finally, use wet hands when rolling, use a bamboo mat for best results and use a wet knife for slicing. Happy sushi making!

Hot Fudge Pudding Cake III

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2007
Very nice recipe! I added a 1/2 tsp of vanilla, 1/2 cup of copped nuts, and 1/2 cup of shredded dried coconut to the cake batter. It was like an almond joy candy bar type taste.Served it with vanilla ice cream and drizzled the chocolate sauce over the ice cream, really looked lovely. Next time I will reduce the liquid to 1 1/3c and likely make a cup of that liquid coffee.

Ratatouille Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2007
This is a lovely light recipe for when you want something tasty but not necessarily meaty. The only chage I make is to use fresh garlic. The ratatouille is also a lovely side dish with grilled chicken / meat. I personally still prefer it with pasta, especially penne. Thanks for the recipe!

Chicken Breasts with Balsamic Vinegar and Garlic

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2007
How strange I'm reviewing this exactly one year after adding it to my recipe box! This chicken was lovely, I used a little less garlic (4 cloves) and added some finely chopped shallot to it when frying the garlic. I also used baby portabella mushrooms which were gorgeous. Also added a splash of white wine to the sauce. Served with green beans and wild rice this was a superb dish for company and was also easy to achieve! Thank you for the recipe!

Roquefort Pear Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2007
This was excellent! We couldn't get hold of pecans (i'm not much of a nut fan anyway) so used grilled crispy proscuitto crumbled up to add another flavour / texture. It worked really well! Some suggest leaving out the avocado but I thought it gave a lovely creamy contrast to the tangy cheese, salty ham and sweet crunchy pear. Although for those who don't care for avocado the salad would still be outstanding without it. The dressing was gorgeous, I didn't add the garlic as was having a garlicky main and we didn't miss it at all. Also used less oil in the dressing to cut fat and that was also not missed. Please try this salad it is fantastic!

I made these and ended up with a HUGE amount and took most of them to our church coffee hour. They were all gone within 10 mins. I didn't use York as we can't get them in the UK, so I used Bendicks bittermints but they were still amazing.

Amazingly Good Eggnog

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2006
I made it exactly as the recipe stated, didn't change a thing and I thought it was the worst eggnog I've ever tasted sorry! I was so happy I found this recipe since I am in the UK from canada and can't seem to find it in any of the shops. I was dissapointed, I gave it three stars because one out of four of us liked it. Thank you for the recipe anyway.

Pork Chops with Fresh Tomato, Onion, Garlic, and Feta

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2006
This was a very good healthy dish. We made exactly as written apart from broiling the chops instead of frying. The balsamic vinegar adds a subtle depth without making the dish taste "vinegary". Served with lightly steamed zucchini and baked potatoes. Would like to try the wine idea next time!
