Grandma's Polish Perogies

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2008
These perogies were wonderful! My dough turned out great and easy to manage, and I pretty much followed the recipe exactly. For the filling we mixed potatoes with fried onion and bacon, parsley and about a cup of grated cheese. The result was truly splendid and well worth the effort!

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2008
This was a very nice banana bread. The cooking time was a bit off for me though. It was sort of sticky in the middle when we cut it up. But apart from that, it was yummy!

Lovely! Steamed the broccoli in the microwave (4 minutes @ 650W) to retain its goodness. PERFECT!

Best Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
I'm sorry. This was not what I had hoped it would be. Not even my boyfriend that really likes tuna could finish this meal. I do want to add that it probably had to do with the dish I used. It was to large so the casserole came out very dry. Sorry!

I used apricot instead of peach preserves. Didnt find this at all too salty nor too spicy. Being from Louisiana, I used Tony Chachere's of course. This receipe is a keeper.

Festive Cheese Bites

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2007
These were Great! I baked a few to "test" them before the party and they tasted like it should be a sin to eat something so heavenly. I placed the others from the un-baked batch in the freezer and baked them 2 days later. the do require a longer time in the oven if taken right from the freezer. Needless to say, everyone loved them and asked for the recipe!

Belles Hamburger Buns

Great bread. I made sure to flatten the dough and the buns came out perfectly shaped. They actually taste a lot like my grandmothers famous rolls, and of course that has to mean that it's a five star recipe! Cheers!

Oh wow! Not the most healthy meal I've ever had but oh boy was it ever delicious! I followed the recipe except for cutting down a bit on the pepper and adding some creole spice mix I had at home. Thank you for this posting!

Bake Sale Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2007
I made these a few minutes ago and followed Gourmet Mommy's advice and will put it here so no one else has to scroll back 4 years!!---->(From Gourmet Mommy: My alterations make this a five star recipe, in my opinion. I like my lemon bars tart, not sickening sweet. Here's what I do: Decrease temp to 350 degrees. Leave crust the same, put in 9 x 13 enameled metal pan. Bake 15 min. For filling, double flour and eggs, use 1 C lemon juice and 1 3/4 C sugar. Add 3 drops yellow food coloring. Bake 20 min.) ** Now I did not use the food coloring and added 1/2 tsp lemon extract. I also used 2/3 cup butter on accident, but the bars did not turn out too buttery or greasy. Delicious and I will be using this recipe during the holidays.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2007
I'm reviewing this again- 2 years later and it's STILL the only potato soup recipe I use. I wish I could give you 10 stars! It's absolutely delicious. We eat it at least every other month and EVERY month during the winter season. Thanks again!!! Original review- This recipe was a hit with my family, we all had seconds and what little leftovers there were went to work with my husband. I served it with a fresh warm loaf of french bread. I used a salty smoked ham called kassler (found here in Sweden) and only 2 tsp of chicken bouillon. I also added 1/3 cup of sliced carrots. It was absolutely perfect and I will definitely be making it again. Thursday is the unofficial Soup day in Sweden and this was perfect! Thank you!

West Indian Curried Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2007
I made this for my family yesterday. I used regular curry and about 2 tbsps less than the recipe called for and only 2 tsps of salt. It turned out awesome! I served it over plain white rice and it was very filling. We ate it up! No more buying ready made mixes for me. Thank you!

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2007
fantastic! This is the perfect oatmeal cookie base. I have made these twice this week! First time I halved the recipe and added semi-sweet chocolate chips. Last night I halved it and added SunMaid dried fruit bits. I also substituted Smart Balance light spread for butter and it is still the best oatmeal cookies ever. As for making the cookies uniform in shape, I simply pressed these little babies into patties like I would a mini hamburger. They came out perfectly chewy yet cooked throughout. UPDATE: The third time I made these, I replaced the butter with peanut butter. AMAZING! So good.
