Szechwan Shrimp

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2008
I used peanut oil instead of veggie oil, 1/2 tsp fresh ginger instead of the powdered ginger and unsweetened tomato ketchup, result was delicious. Another thing I liked: supremely easy to make! :)

Rolled Fondant

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2008
I made this with a 13 year old, 9 year old, and 4 year old and it was great. We got powdered sugar EVERYWHERE! But the recipe was amazing and was easier to work with than I orginially expected. This tasted MUCH better than any other fontant I've tasted. Thanks!

I'm not a fan of collards, but this is a very tasty way of preparing them. Thanks for sharing this recipe!

French Baguettes

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2008
The dough was harder to work with than what I'm used to, and it turned out kind of flat on the bottom. Otherwise, this was a really good recipe. The bread had a beautiful color to it. Thanks!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2008
1 word for this recipe: Delicious! I made 2 pans, one for my family and the other for my co-workers. I received nothing but compliments. I did sub fresh basil for the dried, but it came out so flavoful. Preparing (layering) the lasagna and leaving in the fridge overnight does allow the flavors to meld wonderfully. Thanks for sharing this recipe. It's definetely a keeper.

Pork Chops with Sweet Tomato Chutney

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2008
I used 1/4 cup of sugar, which was plenty. Put a splash guard over the pan while frying the spices, the mustard seeds tend to jump all over the place. The recipe does not specify what type of mustard seeds to use - I used brown mustard seeds. I left the chutney to simmer for an hour, and it came out very tasty.

Vinegar Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2008
I really liked the idea of eggless cookies but mine flattened out into thin, sticky, sugary blobs. I'm not sure what I did wrong as I followed the recipe exactly as-is.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2008
These cookies were pretty good from what I was told. My boyfriend liked them but thought they would do well with some peanut butter. However, that is personal preference. The only alterations I made were adding some cocoa and substituting the choc.chips with mini m&ms.

Homemade Tomato Sauce I

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2007
This is a great basic recipe. I made it again with more spices, and was very happy with the result. This works nicely with Roma tomatoes. I hate peeling tomatoes, so I skipped that step and threw everything in the blender at the end- worked perfectly. I agree with other reviewers that the recipe is rather small, but I thought it was worth it.

Chicken and Bow Tie Pasta

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2007
This was outrageously good!! And alot better than it looks on the photo. Made this for the kids when me and my husband were going out for dinner, I almost changed my mind about the restaurant. That's how good this was. Made some changes though; used maccaroni instead of bow tie pasta and alot less chicken than the recipe called for. Mushrooms instead of red bell pepper, cram cheese with herbs instead of onion and chives and mozzarella cheese instead of parmesan. Not drastic changes really, but I did put mine in a large pan, drizzled the cheese over and baked in a hot oven until the top layer was golden and crispy. And that did it for me, if you think this dish is good try to wack it in the oven for a little bit. You'll love it!!

Pork Chops and Sauerkraut

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2007
Like many others, I tweaked this recipe and it was delicious! I don't care for onion pieces so I subbed 1-1/2 tsp. onion powder, doubled the miced garlic (from a jar) and apple juice and also added 1/2 can of beer. I used 32 oz. of bagged sauerkraut (drained) instead of the 16 oz. called for in the recipe and put the salt & pepper on the chops while browning. My husband, and his friend who dined with us, raved about this recipe...it's a keeper!
