Red Velvet Cake I

Not as velvetty as I would have liked. Perhaps the addition of some buttermilk would be helpful.

One Bowl Chocolate Cake III

Although I cut the sugar by 1/2 cup, the cake turned out perfectly sweet and moist, dense but still fluffy. Great recipe to have around for a quick crowd pleaser.

Used this recipe as the base for a layered fruit tort and it was a hit. Will try again as normal panna cotta soon.

Belles Hamburger Buns

First time they came out great. I used only 5 cups of flour and kneaded by hand. Topped with sesame seeds and they look almost store bought, but taste better.

Honey Wheat Bread I

This bread is amazing - the dough starts off a bit sticky before kneading but gets softer when more flour is incorporated. painted the top with a whisked whole egg with a splash of water.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: May 16, 2009
This is a really great recipe (as I expected by the huge amount of positive reviews). However, I wouldn't suggest filling them to the brim of the cups. They went a little crazy on me and started pouring over the sides about 3/4 through cooking.

Lamb Chops with Balsamic Reduction

Very good combination of flavors. I used the extra balsamic reduction to flavor the green beans and almonds I served with the chops. Also served scalloped potatoes for a complete meal.

Soy Milk Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2009
This recipe is really good for those who don't eat milk products. I use half whole wheat flour and half white flour. My wife and I enjoyed them very much together with "Absolute best pancake syrup" by Ingrid. The recipe is exactly enough for a nice saturday morning breakfast for 2 (I used a tiny 5 inch crepe pan).

Burger or Hot Dog Buns

Good standby recipe. Made one or two more buns than recipe suggests. Used fresh yeast and proofed it first. The key to perfection is the rolling technique, stretching and smoothing the dough's skin for that flawless look.

Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies

They were pretty good, not really my style though. They were very textured and only slightly moist. Very salty peanut butter taste in mine, although i suppose it depends on your brand. It took about 11 minutes to cook right.

Mary McCormack's Marinated Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2009
This was a great and easy recipe, which allows for variations. I used balsamic vinegar, because it adds a nice color and doesn't have such a strong bite like white vinegar. Also, I added fresh pressed garlic and basil, and simmered the whole mixture for a few minutes to infuse the flavors before I set aside. Also, I only marinated these for 12 hours, not over night.

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Very good! I only put 1lb meat in it but rest according to the recipe. It was a really good chili, and with not very much effort! I looked up some other chili recipes on the site, and they ask for like 200 ingredients.. why do that when you can do this one with no hassle? I added some corn to it and husband ate 2 bowls of it

Very good recipe. It was my first green bean casserole, and when I put it at the table, husband and stepdaughter asked "what is that?" I had thought it is a traditional american holiday dish.. :) I did use a bit of sour cream instead of all milk and it turned out just perfect!
