Butter Cream Frosting II

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2009
Hi! I would ask, can I replace the shortening with butter? It is not available to buy Crisco, or other shortening in my country. Please suggest something. Thanks in advance, Xtina

Kielbasa and Cabbage

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
I liked it but the rest of the family was not so excited about it. Although I have to add that I grew up in Germany and we had Cabbage once in a while, so I am used to the taste whereas my husband only ever had it in Coleslaw and some boiled cabbage.

Melt - In - Your - Mouth Shortbread

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
Love it, my mixer died in the middle of whipping it, so I had to use my hands to mix everything. I kneaded the dough and when happy with the texture I took small pieces of dough rolled them into balls, placed on cookie sheets and flattened them with a fork. They came out looking really cute and after they were cooled, I put melted white and dark chocolate in little baggies and squirted squiggles all over. They look really fancy and taste heavenly. They freeze well too. I got to hide them in the freezer in tins with a different label or the cookie monsters will make short work before Christmas comes. LOL

Rich and Creamy Tomato Basil Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
I read other reviews and was so looking forward to this soup. I have rated it a 3*, but was in two minds whether to rate it lower. I followed the recipe exactly, firstly I did not like the salmon pink color of the soup, but more than ever it was the taste I didn't like. I added so much salt and pepper, but the soup is still extremely bland, its very creamy. Too creamy in fact with little to no taste. I will not be making this soup again.

Chocolate Crinkles II

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
5 stars: for how beautiful these cookies are, 4 stars: because my 3 year old could help me roll them in icing sugar without getting very dirty hands, 3 stars: because of the taste. I miss something! Because they are so pretty, I will make them again with an addition; coffee, peppermint extract, almond extract or coconut. My kids call them ' snow cookies'.

Apple Crisp III

i think there's a misprint here. Shouldn't that 3/4 cup be BUTTER instead of milk? I chanllenge anyone who hates this recipe to exchange the milk for melted butter and see how it comes out then.

Mom's Best Peanut Brittle

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
I don't know brittle & I don't understand what it has to be like. I used golden syrup, bc corn syrup isn't available in my country. I got three different textures! Chewy part, crunchy part and a part which was like fudge. I like the taste very much. Will try again when I can buy corn syrup somewhere.

Empire State Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
I made these today but didn't have any walnuts or pecans so left them out. I also had 2 cups of carrots and only 1 of apple. These were so good! The outside was crispy which we liked a lot! The inside is so moist. Overall, the muffins are very tasty.

Délicieux, tout simplement parfait. This has to be the best bread I have baked to date. I followed the recipe exactly, no need to change anything at all. I will certainly be baking this again. Thank you for this excellent recipe.

Favorite Old Fashioned Gingerbread

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
I have rated this 4* as I have made a few changes as suggested by other members. The cake baked to perfection in 45 minutes. The outside was nice and chewy with the inside being moist. I doubled all the spices and used fresh fine grated ginger. Delicious with a big dollop of cream!

Quick and Easy Home Fries

These were good, but really they were not crispy on the outside, they were all kinda just mooshy. Anyways, they were still alright, but I will just stick with frozen ones in the deep fryer, thanks!

This recipe is my absolute FAVORITE! We make it all the time! I have it down by memory. We like to put olive oil in the bowl and then olive oil down when we cook it. Then brush it with butter and it tastes SO YUMMY! We always use garlic as well. We even tried putting pizza sauce and cheese and it tasted delicious! Thank you soo much for this wonderful recipe! I have shared it with everyone and it is a big hit with everyone that tries it!

This really wasn't that great for me. I used carrots and peas out of a can, so maybe that was why, but really I didn't care for it.

These were good! A little time consuming, because I put my own concoction in it, but good! I put cheese and sauted onions and bell peppers in it. SO GOOD! We dipped them in some sweet and sour sauce!

Marinated Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
I tried this recipe, and maybe it was because I didn't marinate for very long, but the flavor did nothing for me, I was really disappointed. I cooked it in the oven and it came out juicy and cooked perfect but the flavor just wasn't anything special. Maybe I will try again but not for a while. Thanks anyway.

Mama D's Italian Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2009
This was the first bread I have made using my kitchenaid. I have always used my bread maker to make the dough and then took over from there. I made two large loaves of bread rather than the three smaller loaves and pleased how they turned out. I did find the cooking time was a little out, I only cooked for 20-25 minutes.

Fluffy Hot Chocolate

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2009
The snow has finally arrived, so I have decided to take it upon myself to find the most delicious and decedent hot chocolate recipe on the web. I adore hot chocolate and really don’t need any excuse to drink it… This recipe is so easy to follow and it tastes so good. Not quick as creamy as I usually like, but just love the marshmallows. In Fact I think it tastes just like the hot chocolate from Dunkin Donuts. The search must go on...

Instant Yeast Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2009
I don't understand why the dough wouldn't rise. It's basically a pizza dough (if you take it easy on the sugar) After trying to get the dough to rise in a warm spot for 30mins, I knew I would end up with flat biscuits. I rolled all the dough out at once, folded it in half 2x and baked them. They were the hit of the evening. Next time, I would put the butter tabs in between layers of dough since the butter melted right off and stunk up the kitchen.
