Pecan Sandies

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2009
I follwed the recipe (almost) exactly and they turned out perfectly. Rather than rolling these in sugar I just sprinked them with sugar after they were on the baking sheet. It gave them a nice shiny finish but I will probably forego it the next time since the extra sugar probably adds little to the taste.

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
I liked this...but next time I'll saute the onions in the butter for just a few minutes and then add them to the beans because raw onion (this is just my opinion) does not make for very good breath. Otherwise, I will follow the recipe exactly because it was much better than opening a can of soup and dumping it in...

Cranberry Stuffed Turkey Breasts

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
I made this for Thanksgiving. I have to say that I didn't follow the recipe exactly, just used the stuffing and omitted the cranberries and nuts (because there was a diabetic eating with us and I didn't want to shock his system...) Nevertheless, butterflying the turkey breast was a challange but ultimately it worked out perfectly. I followed the cooking directions exactly and the turkey wasn't dry. I basted often and added a dry white wine to the oil which was a nice touch. I will surely make it again and the cranberries are worth a try.

Apple Bavarian Torte

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
I followed the recipe exactly; it was super easy and turned out very well. Thank you so much! Oh, I just want to add that initially I was afraid that I had too many apples (I used 4 gigantic apples) because mine weren't nicely layered like I saw other peoples but just piled on top of the cheese mixture. Nevertheless, by the end of the baking process they cooked down giving off quite a bit of liquid, which also corrected itself after cooling. So...although I had a few doubts while putting the torte together and watching it cook, ultimately it turned out just fine.

Fettuccini with Basil and Brie

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2009
I'm pleasantly surprised. In all fairness I had to make quite a few changes but I did try sticking to the recipes as much as I could it's really tasty. I used goat cheese instead of Brie, warmed it up on the stove and added the garlic (because I was starving and another reviewer suggested it, thank you!) Ultimately I left out the oil and vinegar because the goat cheese is so nice an creamy that it wasn't needed. So...I'm sorry for rating this when I changed the recipe, but I have to say that it's a nice base recipe that seems to be easily adjustable to whatever you have on hand.

I have no clue why people are altering this nice simple recipe. Took others reviews and decided to make it as written! It was delicious, moist and ultra flavorful! A keeper!

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
Mmmm! It's like a creamy pumpkin pie! I followed the recipe exactly except that I didn't top it with whipped cream and it's still perfect! It's a keeper, no changes needed. I just want to add that now I've eaten this after 3 hours and after a night in the fridge. The texture improves dramatically overnight. Try to wait, it's worth it!

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
Well, the truth is that I've never had an authentic Shepherd's pie so I have nothing to compare it to. Nevertheless, I can imagine it's supposed to taste like this. It's good and I'll make it again for sure because it's healthy (I left out the additional oil and added a can of corn.) That being said, the next time I will take the advice of others and flavor the meat a bit more...maybe some garlic or something, it could use some zing. The recipe is definitely worth a try. Happy eating!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
This soup is great and very forgiving. I've made it several times now. I just use the ingredients that I have on hand and it turns out perfectly everytime! Oh, and I've found that you can almost cut out all of the margarine and it's still just as good, maybe even better because it doesn't leave a film on the top of the soup. I will definitely make it again and again...

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2009
I will make these again but with a few changes. They either need more flour or less margarine because they are really gooey. Once you dip them in sugar they are easier to work will, but I ended up using more sugar than the amount recommended, which made me feel guilty while eating them. They are really sweet so...maybe cutting some sugar from the dough and still dipping them, because that part was really nice. They have a lot of potential, but they need a bit of tweaking.

Storybook Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2009
These were very easy to prepare, not too sweet and have a beautiful brown color. I didn't decorate mine with icing, but it probably would have added the perfect touch. I will make them again, but I will consider adding more spices.

Key Lime Cheesecake

This was easy to prepare and very refreshing, it's perfect during the hot summer! I will make it again for sure. I used coconut cookies for the crust because that's what I had and significantly less butter, otherwise I stuck to the recipe. Thanks!

Penne with Red Pepper Sauce and Broccoli

Really nice and simple if you don't bother to blend everything. I used finely chopped jarred peppers and just sauted all the ingredients before mixing with the pasta. Fast and tasty for a mid-week meal.

Raspberry Almond Coffeecake

We really enjoyed this, thank you! I was positive that I had messed up since the batter was thick and I could hardly cover the bottom of the pan with it. Nevertheless, once baked the cake looked wonderful! I would recommend doubling the recipe, we ate the entire thing in a matter of minutes!
