Brazilian Cheese Bread (Pao de Queijo)

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2012
I love this cheese bread. It is similar to the colombian Pan de Yuca. I'll post the recipe for it here, as well as some other traditional colombian "parva".

Holiday Breakfast Braid

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2011
Easy to prepare, whether you want one large braid, smaller ones to hand out as gifts, or individual rolls. The only problem is having the patience to wait for the dough to rise. The sweet-cardamom aroma is tantalizing!

Minnesota Wild Rice Dressing

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
This dish was a complete HIT!!! People loved it so much I had 12 of 19 people asking for the recipe. I added more wild rice to the recipe. When beating the eggs, I added 1tbls of ground sage. Then I added the eggs to the rice mixture and put the dish in the oven.

Something Special Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2011
Awesome topping. For the filling, I only used 4 thinly sliced apples: No sugar, spices, etc. The topping had enough flavor to take care of the apples. Perhaps a little less salt would be a good idea. I also did not use the coconut or nutmeg AND substituted a bit of the butter with vegetable oil.

Creamy Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2011
I wasn't sure that it would work with just two eggs, but I guess that's why the title says "creamy"; the texture turned out less dense than your normal, store-bought pie. I forgot the ginger and I used whole milk and powdered sugar instead of the condensed milk. My husband claims it is the best pie I have ever made.

Butter Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2011
My husband said this was the best pie crust I've ever made. I'm not expert at rolling out any pie dough, so I can't complain too much about it being sticky. The crust (although patched together) went well with both a pumpkin pie as well as an apple pie made with Splenda.

Mexican Rice III

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2011
This rice was a hit with both adults and children. I chose not to add too much jalapeño. The flavour was rich yet light. It was easy to prep but it does take some time to chop the ingredients. Let that not stop you from putting in the effort get ending up with a rice dish that will have people asking for more.

Aloha Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2011
I love this recipe it's delicious!! But I did do some changes like recommended by other reviews. I used a little bit less ketchup than the recipe said and I used real onion instead of powder. DO NOT USE CIDER VINEGAR! It smells really bad, I tried rice vinegar instead and only one tbs. It was really good. My mom and dad loved it. I will definitely make this again.

Chocolate Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2011
Delicious, very moist muffins, but since I'm vegan and gluten free, I had to replace some of the ingredients. I used 2 1/4 cup of"Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Biscuit and Baking Mix" instead of the all purpose flour. I replaced the three eggs with 3 tablespoons of flaxseed meal soaked in 9 tablespoons of filtered water for five minutes. I used a can of coconut milk instead of the regular milk and sourcream, and I melted 4oz of unsweetened chocolate in 1/2 cup of coconut oil. I also added more chocolate chips that the original recipe calls for. The end result were deliciously moist and chocolaty rich muffins, that my kids and neighbors loved, and now she wants the recipe. This are not guilt free, but surely worthwhile after a busy day.

Maple-Garlic Marinated Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2011
This was a success! The flavours were complimentary, the sweet and salty. The pork was tender and juicy. I served it over a bed of basmati rice and the sauce was an incredible topper. I accompanied the meat with some satayed peppers (grn, red & yellow).

shrimp ceviche

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2010
I made this recipie from various recipies that I found in books and on the internet and adjusted it to what i thought i would like the most - I made it again for christmass eve and again it was gone within a few minutes. I love the recipie thoug if you are not too fond of sweet stuff I would recomend using half the sugar and more lemons in the sauce . Enjoy!
