Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
I also did it without the bread machine. At the beginning, the dough was very sticky, so I was affraid I was doing something wrong. But it turned out just wonderful... Next time, I'd use a little less cinnamon though.

Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
In my point of view, this recipe had it all. Flavor, ease of working with and looks. I used butter flavored shortening. I chilled my shortening in the freezer and also used ice cold water. Let is rest in the fridge until ready to use. I always roll my crust on parchment or wax paper and put the dish over once it is rolled and turned it over and carefully remove the paper. Like others have mentioned it didn't quite make 4 proportionate size crusts. The last one was on the short side but I made it work for lattice tops. Thank you for sharing this recipe Barbara!

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
Robin, thank you for a great recipe. This was excellent. I followed the recipe as written. I thought of using ready made broth but decided not to. I used Knorr bouillon and since they are bigger than the normal size ones I only used two cubes. I also decreased the salt because I didn't want to chance over salting our Turkey. The gravy I made from it's juices was delicious. No salt needed at all. Fantastic recipe!

Cherry Pie II

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
Excellent Cherry Pie! I'm not sure I prefer the taste of the pie with flour but as far as consistency goes it was right on. I have to add that I added about 3 tbs. of cornstarch mixture to mine. I also added 1/4 tsp. of almond extract, a few drops of red food coloring, and 1 tbs. lemon juice. I do like tart/sour things so to me that was perfect. I used Ruth's Grandma's crust recipe from this site for my pie crust. Thank you for sharing Carol.

Green Bean Casserole I

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
I agree that this needed some flavoring. Recognizing that, I added some freshly ground pepper, salt and a little garlic powder and mixed it in. I also substituted frozen green beans (thawed) for the canned. I just cooked it at 350 degrees until it was bubbly (about 45-50 minutes), then I took it out and added the French fried onions and put it back in to brown.

Roasted Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
Like many others, I also had trouble with the "mushing" of the garlic. I even let it bake for 45 minutes instead minutes. It was just ok to us. I don't know if I'll be trying this one again even increasing the time. I've had better garlic bread from this site. Sorry!

Kung Pao Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
Nice, easy, yummy recipe! I made very few modifications. Just doubled the amount of the marinade and tripled the sauce. I used less cornstarch than called for and still had to add more water. Nothing wrong with that. I'm just happy that the kids enjoyed it and that we didn't have to pay restaurant prices for a meal with an Asian flair.

Perfect Sesame Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
It is a great recipe for sure. However we thought it was very sweet made as written. Even the kids agreed. I should have read the reviews. It turned out beautifully otherwise. It does make a lot of sauce so no need to double it.

Quick Chili I

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
This recipe is great in taste as well as simplicity. I would recommend using the diced tomatoes with no salt added because I didn't and somehow it turned out too salty for us, I think 1 tablespoon of salt might be too much. I will try to cut down next time now that I know what to expect. You can always add salt but it is extremely difficult to reduce it once its in it. I did increase the pepper sauce due to personal preference and added a little more cumin, chili powder and a small dash of oregano.

Chicken Tortilla Soup V

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2008
My kids who don't like soup were raving about this soup and calling it Yummy. I doubled the recipe. I added chopped green peppers and chopped cilantro plus a can of black beans, drained and rinsed. I also upped the spices and served it with Pepper Jack cheese instead. A keeper. Thank you so much Betty!

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2008
Not that this recipe needs any more praise but how could I not? It is to die for if you like Buffalo Chicken wings. I marinated mine for about 30 minutes in Louisiana Wing sauce and then added the flour mixture. I doubled the recipe and since I don't have a deep fryer at the moment I used my electric skillet and it worked just fine. The sauce turned out great too. I served it with both the sauce (which I had doubled the recipe) as well as ranch sauce.

Caramel Apples

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2008
Nice and easy way to have fun with the kids and also enjoy a great tasting caramel apple. I followed the recipe to the "T". The only trouble I had was that the caramel was hardening too fast for me and also that some bubbles appeared on some of the apples and I can't figure out why. I'm sure it was something I did wrong but it was so fast and tasty that it was definitely worth it! Thanks Suzie!

Slow Cooker Barbequed Pork for Sandwiches

We thought this turned out great! I was in a hurry so I improvised and instead of dicing the onion I used 1 pkg. of Lipton Onion soup, in addition, I used 1 can of Campbell's French Onion soup with the remaining part of the beef broth. I also used Sweet Baby Ray's. It was delicious!

Pizza Casserole

Hard to go wrong with Pizza. This is a delicious dish. I had to hide the fact that it was a Casserole since my family hate any type of casserole. One of the kids went back for 2nds. I used Penne instead of egg noodle since I was out.

Pumpkin Pie Spice II

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2008
I was glad to find this recipe here. It doesn't make a lot of sense to buy it at the store when you have all the ingredients in your spice collection. I used it to make Pumpkin muffins and the smell/flavor was very good.

Asian Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2008
This recipe was very good. I made it while in Brazil visiting my family and it was requested by my brother. I couldn't find any rice vinegar there so I had to substitute for white but I don't believe that hurt the recipe. I will try it again sometime with rice vinegar. The sauce was excellent. I did end up having to use more Evoo than the recipe stated though.

Tomato Vodka Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2008
This was an easy and great recipe. I confess I made a few changes. I added a small can of tomato sauce. Let it simmer until almost all liquid was absorbed. I added about 1/2 tsp. of Italian seasoning and 1/2 tsp. of Herbs de Provence. It was really good.
