Buffalo Chicken Wings II

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2009
great recipe. i followed other viewers ideas... added bread crumbs to flour, baked at higher temp, used more hot sauce and doubled the amount of sauce used. Also added extra seasoning to the flour mixture. Our local fave restaurant uses ranch dressing instead of blue cheese, so I tried that.... very yum. one more thing.... parchment paper in the bottom of the pan helps the wings get even crispier!

Oven Meatballs

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
Yummy! Loved how the tops of the meatballs turned golden brown in the oven - I made sure to drench them in sauce every few mintues so the tops didn't dry out. Added just a bit of honey as well to my sauce for added thickness...very good, will make again! Thanks!

I made this exactly as the recipe read but added 1 tsp. of ginger instead of 1/2 a tsp. We thought it was great. I had a request for the recipe. I think this would be great with pork or chicken.

These were very good. I doubled the recipe, added a little extra water, and froze half of the bagels before allowing them to rise to bake at a later date. Yum.

Jamie's Minestrone

A true Italian Minestrone! Lots of subtle flavors, nothing overpowers. Followed the recipe to a T. Only difference was that I used 4 cups turkey broth instead of chicken broth and water. Thank you Jamie.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2008
This turned out quite good. My son always said my Lasagna was the best (similar to this but with ground beef). Then my children became vegetarian and my lasagna was made with vegetables--no meat. I didn't like my lasagna --too runny. So, this looked good. I went through all of the reviews, every one! What amazes me is the amount of salt. Every major health issue is affected by salt--weight, heart disease, blood pressure, cancer, high cholesterol --you name it. I thought it was a typo but it became clear that it wasn't. I am reminded of a TV program about health food that warned-- if it has the sugar reduced --salt is added. If sugar is reduced--salt is added. I use NO salt if I use any processed foods (ei., sausages, canned vegetables etc.) and in general cooking then only as much as 1/2 or 1 tsp. I tell my guests that I don't use salt so they can use their own discretion. Back to the recipe--I am very pleased with all the suggestions made--I used the pinch of nutmeg. I made it the day before and did no cooking other than to brown the meat, onions, and garlic.. put it together to sit in the fridge for 24 hours. I did not cook my noodles--they went from the box to the pan. I thought for sure I didn't have enough cheeses (wrong) I used all fresh herbs from my garden so increased the amount except for the fennel seeds which I think I would increase in the future or use anise as well. I ended up like so many others with about 2 cups of sauce left over. I w

Bacon and Tomato Cups

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2008
I noted the reviews and doubled the recipe but didn't increase the amount of mayo. I think one only needs enough to make it stick together. Also, living in a small town on Vancouver Island means I can't always get all products. In this case it was the buttermilk biscuits. So, I used the flaky roles instead and divided them in three! Also I used muffin papers since I don't like greasing pans and they worked fine after letting them cool to take off the paper. I will certainly make them again.

Not like Roti I've tasted but still very good and went well with a currie dinner I served. I found it difficult to control the heat and also I really needed a hugh grill for this.

German Currywurst

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2007
I looked and looked at this recipe and although I usually follow a recipe to a "T" the first time I could not bring myself to use 3 cans of tomato sauce. Then, I discovered I had no tomato sauce and used ketchup and chili sauce and sprinkled 1 tsp. of curry powder on top. I guess it's nothing like the original. I brought it to one of those pot-luck appy nights and it was a big hit so I've rated it four stars.

Midwestern Pork Chop Dinner

I followed this recipe to a T despite the reviews about blandness. Although I love curries and other spicy foods sometimes something subtle is great. This was one of those which had enough natural flavours to make it great. I will definitely make it again. It was the dish for Kohlabri!
