Jeannie's Famous Potato Hamburger Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2009
I was feeling lazy, so I did as another reviewer suggested and used tator tots. I then used only 2 cups of cheese, Kraft texmex mix(chedd.,colby and montery jack). If I make it again I will mix in some frozen mixed veggies so it will have at least something nutritional about it! Oh, and the cream sauce took about 25 min. to thicken, with the help of an extra 1/4 cup of flour. it looked like way too much,(not adding the extra cup of milk) I thought maybe I read the recipie wrong, but it turned out fine. My 9x13 dish was overflowing, next time I'll use my lasagna dish!

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2009
These definately deserve the 5 stars. They are very moist and have a great banana taste. I upped the banana in the recipe to 4 and added a bit of vanilla. I add vanilla to pretty much all my baking. They are incredibly easy to put together as well which I love. I'll definately be keeping this recipe.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2009
Awesome! I used 2 cup sugar, used 1 cup whole wheat flour and 2 cups white flour, and didn't have walnuts to put in...but the little muffins turned out great! I put them in for 20 mins at 350 degrees. They look lovely and taste lovely! People who don't even like zucchinis keep digging these! Thanks for the recipe! :D UPDATE: My boyfriend LOOOOVES these! Made some more with zucchinis from the local farmer's market, coarsely grated with a cheese grater. So good & it looks very very pretty with strips of green zucchinis. I will try to substitute oil with applesauce next time. Thanks!

Cucumber Sandwich

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2009
I followed the recipie, but left out the pepperoncini and added red onion. I have never had avocado before, so I was unsure what it was supposed to be like, but I peeled it, mashed some (hope it was supposed to be mushy and gross looking, I thought I might have bought a rotton one) and put it on. It was such a good sandwich! EDIT:second time made it, did the same as above, but also left out the avocado(had none left), and added fresh basil, salt and pepper to the red wine vinegar and oil, and added thin slices of yellow pepper. Awesome!

Golden Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2009
Really, really good! I followed others and browned the chops, added a little garlic and sauted the onions and mushrooms(about 2cups-we love mushrooms)Then used 1 can of golden mushroom soup and 2 cans of regular mushroom soup. It needed a little water to smooth it out, and we only cooked it for about 25 min. uncovered. We served it with rice, and mixed veggies. The sauce was so good over the rice, my 6 yr. old ate seconds, and he usually picks at his food and never eats rice! The only thing I will do differently next time, it to use more golden mushroom soup just for a different taste than the usual mushroom soup chops.

Buttery Rolls

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
These were awesome! I used 3 cups whole wheat and 1 cup all-purpose flour which were all sifted together...however, these do need to be baked longer....I also only had frozen butter, so I threw it into a bowl with the milk and threw it in the microwave for a couple of minutes, so most of it was melted. ***Just an update*** I times the recipe by 8 and got 5 dz buns and 5 loaves out of the whole batch again using whole wheat and all-purpose flour...worked like a charm:-)

Serbian Ground Beef, Veggie, and Potato Bake

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
Pretty good, nice spices.(was a little worried about the cloves and cinnamon)I tried to follow the recipie exactly, but I didn't have wine, and replaced the crushed red peppers with garlic. I also did the potato part a little different. I sliced and boiled 6 med. potatoes, then arranged it like a shepards pie. That is what it was kinda like, but without the gravy, and next time I'll add flour and more cream to make it like that.

Costas French Market Doughnuts (Beignets)

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
Never had these before and curiosity got the best of me! I halved the recipe, as several reviews stated that this made a huge batch! These are awesome, although I was expecting a little more sweetness in the dough. Didn't have Evaporated milk, so used Whole milk instead...these are awesome...so awesome that I am going to make these for the family potatoe pancake breakfast...I was trying to figure out what to make and low and behold I have found it!

Oven Meatballs

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
Yummy! Loved how the tops of the meatballs turned golden brown in the oven - I made sure to drench them in sauce every few mintues so the tops didn't dry out. Added just a bit of honey as well to my sauce for added thickness...very good, will make again! Thanks!

Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2009
This was pretty good lentil soup, although not the best. I did substitute water with chicken stock and add extra veggies as well as cumin. I was missing basil though, so maybe that does the trick. I'll try making it again. I froze a ziplock bag of it in the freezer and I hope it stays well.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2009
This dish hasn't even made it to my party yet and I've already shared the recipe. I couldn't find raspberries, so I chopped up a peach instead. For the fruit preserves, I happened to have a jar of rose petal jelly in the fridge (can't even remember where that came from), but I added that and, wow! It's sure to be a hit at the baby shower tonight!
