Jumbo Breakfast Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2009
After reading the reviews, I switched the cheerios for rice crispies. To add some nutrition to make me not feel that guilty about wanting to eat these for breakfast (or snacks... or anytime..) I used Whole wheat flour, added a few Tbsps of wheat germ, and omitted a 1/2 c. sugar. Tasted great to me, and the familly ate them up!- Except for the peanut butter hater. There's no hiding its there.

I was scared the chicken wouldn't cook, being wrapped up inside bacon, so I I overcooked them. they still tasted good, I would just leave out the bacon next time.

Awesome. The only thing I would point out is marinate them pinnaple and chicken separate, as other have also mentioned.

Love it! healthy and tasty. I added less cinnamon, yogurt instead of applesauce, and extra strawberries just to suit my children and mine's taste. Turned out fine. great recipe!

Frosted Banana Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2008
Oh my, this was good. I was tired of banana bread and muffins, and these are another great way to use up bananas. Its more like a cake than bars though? I used a 9x13 glass baking dish, and they were great. (embarassing, but I had to look up what a jelly roll pan was :)

Double Layer Pumpkin Pie

I just found this recipe too rich for mine and my family's taste. So personally wouldn't make it again, but I still give 4 *s cause its a great recipe, I did chill the first layer before adding the pumpkin and it turned out perfect.

Sweet potatoes aren't really popular where I live, but they're change from regular potatoes and really healthy. I really like this recipe, I wasn't interested in the marshmellow ones.

No more boxed mixes for me! I did read the pancake guide on this site before making these, and they turn out great every time. I put in 1/2 whole wheat flour, 1/2 white flour.

Excellent recipe, you'd think these would be a no brainer to make, but I never thought of brushing the skins with oil/spices and crisping them up before adding the toppings. thanks!

Butter Tarts II

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2007
These were very easy to make and were pretty darn tasty. I used chopped walnuts with my filling and cooked them for 10 minutes at 400, then another 10 at 300 and that was enough! I did find the consistency to be a little too granular.

Loved the flavour, but the rice took MUCH longer to cook than expected. Next time I will add the rice right away instead of waiting or use instant rice.

Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2007
I am just a beginner in the kitchen, so this rating may be more a reflection of my skill than of the recipe. When I cut in the tablespoon of margarine the dry mix was still quite powdery -not crumbly. So I added more until it started to resemble crumbles. After I added the milk the mixture became very sticky -not exactly what I'd call soft. I see the recipe said it made 6 dumplings, but it seemed to me that they would be HUGE. So I dropped nine large spoonfuls of the dough into my vegetable chowder. After the 15 minutes of simmering without lifting the lid they were still very dense and seemed uncooked in the middle -so I left them another 15 minutes. It didn't make any difference. They seemed reluctant to cook in the middle. They remained dense and moist. I don't know if they were just too big or what I did wrong.
