Why can't there be more stars? This recipe most certainly deserves 10 stars. My family love corned beef but I don't make it often because we eat one meal and then I have leftovers to deal with. Not one speck was left of this recipe, and my teenaged son is already asking when I'll be making this again. I made the recipe exactly as stated, even though I had some reservations about the amount of garlic. It came out perfectly tender, moist, and delicious. I strained the juices into a pot and added water to make a half/half mixture, and cooked up the carrots, turnips, potatoes, and cabbage that we traditionally eat with our corned beef. The juices imparted a wonderful flavour to the vegetables, although I do think it might have been too strong if I hadn't added water. This recipe will hold a place of honour in my recipe box.
I did read the reviews before posting my own. To the woman who said she had to throw away her meat: you must have gotten a very bad cut of meat, or your crockpot wasn't working properly. There is no way a piece of meat could be immersed in liquid and cook for 10 hours without becoming tenderised enough to attempt eating.
