Chicken Murphy II

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2008
I had leftover roast chicken and BBQ'd Italian sausage so I decided to use this recipe. I sauteed the onion and garlic like the recipes says then I added 2 garden fresh tomatoes, the white wine and my leftover chicken, sausage and the boiled potatoes. I added some chicken broth as well. I didn't have any peppers but I added a few red pepper flakes for flavour. I also omitted the cornstarch. The recipe turned out great and my husband and 3 kids all liked it (which is not easy to accomplish!!). This was a great way to use my leftovers and I will definitely keep this one in my recipe box.

Yummy Fruit Pizza

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2008
Wow, yummmmmy!!! This was my Father's Day dessert I made for my amazing man and friends of ours who are expecting their first baby any day now!! Everyone loved it and it was all eaten up! CHANGES ~ I didn't add anything to the top. (no jam, no whipping cream) or anything....just added the fruit and that was it! Thanks for the pic! When I printed the recipe, there was no pic...so I was "guessing" what it was supposed to look like! ;-)

Artichoke Chicken

Reviewed: May 15, 2008
Gave this a three star only because of it lacking in flavour and had to do changes in it This was a good basic recipe to start. Seeing the reviews and noticing that it lacked flavour, I mixed can cream of mushroom soup and a touch of milk with the halved mayo and added the other half sour cream, sprinkled the top with grated marbled cheese and parmesian then topped with broken garlic seasoned croutons. Did add garlic and seasoning salt to the sauce. Also added sauteed onions over the chicken before adding the sauce. It was delicious this way. I don't really like artichokes so the next time I've decided to use cauliflower and broccoli or frozen mixed veggies to simplify it. Served it over rice because the sauce really goes well with it. Yumm. (I actually got the idea from a recipe my sister in law gave me to make pheasant devine.)

Aloha Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2008
This was excellent. The only changes I made were: I only used three quarters cup of ketchup and because I found the sauce to be a little runny, I added 2 tbsp of cornstarch and water during the last 10 minutes of cooking, it thickened the sauce beautifully. My family were inhaling the aromas before supper and could hardly wait to eat. No one was disappointed. Thanks for an easy and tasty recipe. Will be serving again in the near future.

Meaty Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2008
Ive made this many times now. I love it but with a couple of changes. Instead of a tbsp of thyme, I use a tsp of celery salt and thyme. I dont use bouillon cubes, I just add about a cup of beef broth and a cup of red wine. I also add half a tsp of fennel and half a tsp of red pepper flakes. Other than that its the same. My family loves it. Thanks for a great recipe.

Slow Cooked Corned Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2008
Why can't there be more stars? This recipe most certainly deserves 10 stars. My family love corned beef but I don't make it often because we eat one meal and then I have leftovers to deal with. Not one speck was left of this recipe, and my teenaged son is already asking when I'll be making this again. I made the recipe exactly as stated, even though I had some reservations about the amount of garlic. It came out perfectly tender, moist, and delicious. I strained the juices into a pot and added water to make a half/half mixture, and cooked up the carrots, turnips, potatoes, and cabbage that we traditionally eat with our corned beef. The juices imparted a wonderful flavour to the vegetables, although I do think it might have been too strong if I hadn't added water. This recipe will hold a place of honour in my recipe box. I did read the reviews before posting my own. To the woman who said she had to throw away her meat: you must have gotten a very bad cut of meat, or your crockpot wasn't working properly. There is no way a piece of meat could be immersed in liquid and cook for 10 hours without becoming tenderised enough to attempt eating.

Barlow's Blackened Catfish

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2008
I cannot believe that we didn't like this recipe. We had a little fish tasting night recently and we found this the the lowest pick of the night. I have since done the cat fish by just frying it and got much better results. The other selections for the evening were Pecan coated Roughy Broiled Scallops Lobster Thermador Smothered Tilapia I'm sorry that this recipe was the lowest rated of the night, but it was an unanimous opinion.

Bacon Wrapped Chicken

Oh my goodness !!! WOW! This recipe is fantastic....I too made some modifications....slit the chicken and stuffed it as opposed to rolling it or whatever....and I used sour cream instead of mayo and mushroom soup instead of chicken....it turned out truly amazing, I have made it twice and will definitely be making it again!! THANKS for a great recipe!!!
