Pecan Torte

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2008
I am the 'birthday cake baker' in our family, and I'm always looking for new and different cakes to try. I followed this recipe almost to the letter and it turned out great. *Note the second mention butter (one cup) is actually 1 cup of buttermilk. I also made the icing the day before, and it kept well in the fridge overnight. Overall a great cake - everyone loved it!

Triple Cheese Spread

This is a great easy dip and tastes great with pretzels. We served it warmed because straight from the fridge was too hard to dip or spread.

Gourmet Guacamole

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2007
This recipe was pretty good. Instead of using chili powder I used 1/2 a chopped jalapeƱo pepper. I like my heat though...others may want to use only 1/4, making sure to remove the seeds and membrane. I added a little extra salsa as well!

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2007
Fabulous! I made this with leftover brown rice and splenda. I did use 1/3 cup of splenda though - it needed it. I don't think there'll be any left for dessert tonight!

Rhubarb Strawberry Crunch

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2007
I would highly suggest NOT using previously frozen fruit in this recipe. It was extremely runny. Tasted good though, although I did follow variations mentioned by other reviewers. Use 4 cups each fruit.

Garlic Jelly

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2006
I love garlic, and thought this would be interesting to try; unfortuantely it wasn't all I had hoped. Could be personal taste, but I found the garlic/sugar/vinegar mixture ended up tasting just like it sounds, and the flavours didn't blend nicely. I now have 12 jars of garlic jelly, and don't know what to do with it...

Spiced Sweet Roasted Red Pepper Hummus

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2006
This was a nice dip for appetizers, and went very nicely with veggies as well as pita wedges. Was a little bit thick - I added some olive oil to smooth it out a bit.

Olivada

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2006
I admit I'm not a big olive fan, but my husband is, and even he thought it was just too olive-y. I made it per the recipe, then after tasting added a can of black beans and blended well. The colour stayed the same, but the taste was mellowed quite a bit. I will make this again...but will add the beans!

Caramel Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2006
These were fantastic. I used 4 (56gr) boxes of Macintosh's Toffee (8 oz total). I doubled the crust/crumb recipe but only used 1 1/4 c. of butter. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

Sour Cream Coffee Cake I

Fabulous! Everything I wanted in a sour cream coffee cake. I glazed it with a little ganache made from melting a few butterscotch chips with a little whipping cream. It was fantastic.
