Sausage and Bow-tie Pasta Florentine

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2008
This was too die for with the following changes: Omitted frozen spinach and used fresh spinach (2 c.) and added to the oil and garlic mixture during last 4 minutes of cooking then added alfredo sauce etc... Also added 2 tbls. pesto to Alfredo Sauce. We topped pasta off with Asiago Cheese which is what MADE this recipe. We also accidently fried the sauage but would be fine broiled as recipe calls for.

Kids' Party Mix

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2008
Very nice...I like the fact that this is a no nut mix and is perfect for serving to students. I also through in some cheerios and used pretzel goldfish as well as cheddar goldfish which the younger kids love! Served with coloured M&M according to holdiday. I also add mixed nuts to my families mix...peanuts, almonds and cashews are the big hits.

Salsa Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2008
Amazing!! I was a little hesitant at first but was impressed with the results. I didn't use any measurements however which made the quick dish even quicker. I put the chicken in the dish, sprinkled with seasoning and turned to repeat, spooned salsa on to cover and put a silce of cheddar cheese on near the end of cookoing time. Once cooked I removed the chicken and added some cooked white rice the the leftover watery salsa mess in the dish to absorb the flavour and then served that along with corn. Finding a side dished that suited this dish was difficult for me but the rice works really well! Thanks so much for sharing!

Pesto Chicken Florentine

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2008
My husband made this last night and it was amazing. We followed the recipe exact except we only used half the amount of pasta and 3 chicken breasts which fed 2 adults and 2 toddlers with a bit of leftovers. If using the whole bag doubling the sauce would be a must. I would also use more spinanch as it virtually disappeared once cooked. May try adding another tsp. of pesto as well. Would also cut chicken into cubes for ease of eating and would season chicken breast with salt, pepper and a bit of garlic salt prior to cooking. All in all...a fabulous recipe!!!

Pennsylvania Coal Region Barbecue

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2008
The two 11 year olds and 17 year old in the house loved this. I have been trying different "sloppy joe style" recipes lately and this was one of the favourites so far. I might add a dash of liquid Hickory Smoke flavour next time. I'd add this to the list of easy dinners for kids who are learning to cook.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2008
Instant classic! So good and I hated sloppy joes growing up. Easy to wing too if you aren't one for exact measurements. I also made a batch with veggie ground round for my veggie wife and she loved it too. My 1 year old loved the meat version as much as I did.

Grandma's Brown Sugar Drop Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2008
Too much lard, or too little flour. The cookies ended up melting into eachother and turned cakelike, so after the first batch was in for five mins (and we noticed) we mixed everything together onto one cookie sheet. Smells and tastes great...its cooking now and we have high hopes of this becoming good Brown Sugar Squares!!

Butterscotch Oatmeal

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2008
I am giving it a 4 because I thought it was just alright with no real butterscotch flavour but my fiance thought it was great. Careful with the sugar, I have made it twice now, once by the book (which turned out well) and another time eyeballing the sugar and it came out sticky and too sweet.

Easy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2008
AWESOME!! Just what I was looking for! Tastes just like the one my Mom used to make (RIP!) glad I found this recipe! Thanks you SOOOO much! :D I doubled the sauce and reserved half for the last 10 minutes and I attempt to drain the fat before putting it on, which can be tricky. Much of the existing sauce getting runny from the fat hence the reserve. I also double this recipe as sometimes 1 batch just doesn't feed myself, husband and 2 growing toddlers

Beer Cheese Philly Steak Casserole

What a great idea! the sauce is so good. I used red, yellow, and orange peppers instead of green. I also only used monterey and cheddar cheese.

Southern Style French Onion Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2008
I used two larger onions, as we like a little more "substance" in our soup, and only used 2 bay leaves. I also just added the broth and wine to the pan I had done the onions in, so I could scrape all of the onion flavour into the broth...excellent soup. Thanks for the great recipe.

Roasted Corn Salsa

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2008
So-so... I started into this before I realized that is basically a no-cook salsa. The ingreedients taste good, but it is lacking the unification of flavours that a traditional salsa has. Next time I will probably toss it in a pot and cook until the tomatoes are basically liquid. Roasting the corn was a nice touch though.

Banana Cream Pie Made Easy

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2008
I liked that it was light and not over sweet, but it could have used a bit more banana flavor, I think the next time instead of one pack banana pudding and one vanilla, I will use two packs of banana pudding. Otherwise even my banana hating fiance didnt mind eating this pie!
