Spicy Lentil Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2008
This is pretty good. I used canned lentils (brown) and did not have any cayenne. I also added a bit more curry and garlic. Tastes better cold. Healthy too!

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2008
I have never had carrot cake before, but I thought that this was delicious! I did have one problem...it seemed to separate on me. I don't blame the recipe because I have to use gluten free flour mix and I've never made it before. If anyone could help me with some ideas, I'd appreciate it! I really liked this cake!

Tuna Snack Spread

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2008
Absolutely amazing! I didn't use onion ppowder, instead just a slight sprinkle of garlic and I used Philadelphia Light cream cheese with chives. I have to make it ALL the time now lol! not just for crackers either lol. toast, and chips (crisps) ha! also I had to use pre bottled parsley because I just didn't have fresh stuff on hand! It didn't last very long on my table and I didn't even get to taste it! how rude! lol. Thanks alot for the recipe, will defo be making it again!

These muffins were great! I replaced the butter with 1/3 cup of pumkin because I love pumpkin :) I also added 1 tsp vanilla and 1/2 tsp cinnamon like was suggested in other reviews. Thanks for the recipe!

Irish Beef Stew

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2008
We have just finished this stew, I was going to take a picture but it didn't last long enough for that! I took other reviewers advice and added spices. I added about two tablespoons of rosemary, a tsp of garlic, tsp of parsley, salt and pepper, a teeeny sprinkle of thyme and a half teaspoon of italian seasoning.Thank you for the recipe :) Oh also...I kinda started it wrong. I cooked the meat as said, and then I put it in water with four oxo cubes...then let it all soak for about an hr on low heat since I was cooking it on the stove. then I added my potatoes I used baby new potatoes so I didn't have to peel (ha!) then I mixed the tomato paste with some water and another oxo cube, then added it to the stew then finally added the can of beer. Will defo...DEFO be making this again. Thank you again!

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2008
If you are thinking about trying them. Just do it! They are amazing! Followed the recipe exactly minus cinnamon (allergies here) and the first batch I wanted so badly I didn't roll them or anything just blobs on the pan. YUM! Today I rolled them round and rolled in sugar! Definitely worth the extra work but still very good yesterday. I baked them a little longer and got crispy outside and chewy soft insides.

Hearty Ham Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2008
I had to give just 4 stars because I did adjust it a bit. I actually cooked 1/2 large onion in the butter until they were caramelized... mmmm... And I used 1/4 tsp of white pepper and left out the parsley. I could really see how you could add some frozen vegetables to this. Overall very good!

Different combinations. Although I njoyed the different textures I would exclude the nuts next time. My boyfriend love it, and even had seconds, I think it depends o the taste of the person.

Gaye's Microwave Fudge

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2008
I used margarine instead of butter since I didn't have any butter and I forgot the vanilla before it was too late. I would add the vanilla before you start stirring or even with the milk. It is really sweet but thats expected given the sugar content. I would suggest adding nuts or something and it would offset the sweetness. I made it all in my silicone pan including microwaving it and it definitely hits the spot, I am wishing I tried it with peanut butter... I did experience the clumps of icing sugar, definitely sifting next time.

White Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
I had to loose the nuts since I have other plans for my almonds. I think I will cut the salt a bit next time too. But these make many many cookies and be sure to use a BIG bowl, and unless you absolutely don't care about your waistline, or have a huge crowd to please, plastic wrap and put half the dough in the freezer for some other time =) Now you can get any texture of cookie you want depending on how you cook them. If you like cakey, make balls and cook them longer. If you like chewy cook them shorter and cool them in the pan. If you like them doughy go a head and cook them about 10 mins until they just start to change colour and cool them on wire racks. And if you like something in between, experiment with a few cookies until you figure out what you like, then bake them all the same way!

Grandma's Chocolate Pudding

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2007
I didn't want to be rating this but commenting in case anyone tries to do what I did. I didn't have enough cocoa so I used 2 oz of unsweetened chocolate squares. I melted it the milk before adding the rest of the stuff and I'd advise against that since adding flour to hot milk doesn't quite turn out smooth pudding. Tastes fine but lumpy. Instead either melt the chocolate in the microwave first and add to the milk, sugar, flour before heating or reserve half the cold liquid to mix with the flour to add after the chocolate melts in the heated liquid.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
Absolutely amazingly worth the work! I didn't have the right pan so I used a large spring-form pan for some and a large glass baking pan which had rounded corners - I won't use this type of pan again since the outside rolls were cooked and golden and the inside weren't (however, even undercooked were delicious!) I also wanted to try this recipe so badly and I didn't have a rolling pin but I just stretched as best as I could; would be much easier with a good marble rolling pin (I asked my Mom to let me have hers specifically for this recipe!) Oh yes, I did mix the butter, cinnamon and brown sugar all together and spread it on instead of sprinkling.

Tomato and Bean Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2007
As mentioned, this is a good base. I added salsa, sauteed onions with mushrooms and garlic. If I make this again, I'll add corn and green peppers too. I used vegetarian tomato-beans (not molasses) I also added a lot of black pepper, but some other spices would work too. I don't know if I'll try this recipe again, I might look for another version with more ingrediants.

Hamburger Soup III

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2007
This was good, but I made some changes. I used Italian soy crumbles in place of beef and veggie broth. I also added cayenne pepper, seasoned salt, and replaced garlic salt with no-salt herb and garlic seasoning. It was classic comfort food, especially when served with a dollop of sour cream and homemade whole wheat bread!
