Creamy Hot Cocoa

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2009
Thought this was a little time consuming. Was only ok for me though, found it tasted like store bought and if you don't drink it all right away, when it gets a little cool it feels a little gritty.

Cranberry Orange Loaf

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2009
WOW this is good. I was a little skeptical cause cranberries can be very tart and the recipe doesn't really call for alot of sugar but it was just nice, not too tart and definately not too sweet. I didn't have any pecans so I used walnuts, still good. Going to make a few more of these loaves before I have guests over so I can just pull them out. YUMMY!!!

Mandarin Orange Cake I

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
I don't like rating things bad but I was dissappointed with this recipe. It was pretty bland, tasted more like box cake then orange cake. The icing part was interesting and not what I was expecting. Its a very good idea but I think I'll find a better way to make it more orange tasting and less box cake tasting. oh I even added about 1/2 cup frozen concentrated orange juice to it and didn't taste any better. sorry.

For anyone who know about French Canadian cooking this is an outstanding recipe. The rabbit is tender and succulent. Serve this with a good Pinot Noir wine and you will impress your guests

Santa's Chocolate Thumbprint Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
These are pretty good. I only used the cookie part not the filling because I wanted to use mint flavored kiss as filling. I also used skorr pieces as filling and those ones seemed to be the favorite in my class. I tested them out on my class as I will be doing the bake sale for my husbands work so these are a deffinate yes. Thanks for the recipe.

Beer Batter for Fish

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2009
This is a bit of a tricky recipe to get right. I agree it needs to be thinned out a little. The trick is letting the coating drip off a little and to fry for the proper length of time. Personally I prefer a thicker batter so I really like this basic recipe. If you want more taste just add your favourite spices. A great basic recipe.

Baklava

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
I just made this and it was a hit. I had tasted baklava a few years ago and loved it. The only difference from those and these is that these ones just weren't very goowie though so next time I will double the sauce. I followed someones review to cut almost to the bottom and not completely and making the sauce before and letting it cool before putting it on the hot baklava. It was pretty simple to assemble and I only dabbed a little butter on each layer instead of being generous with it and it helped make it nice and crispy. Very good though but needs more sauce.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
This recipe was good. I did have to make a few adjustments though, doubled the oat topping, used cold butter instead of melted butter, reduced the water to 1/4 cup(will eliminate it completely next time), mixed the cinnamon sugar mix with the apples. With these changed its a 5 star but as is its only 4. Good though made it for thanksgiving dessert and everyone loved it. Thanks :)

Rosy Grape Jelly

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
This was just ok for me, I think maybe I used the wrong pectin or something. I would strongly suggest using white cranberry juice too, I used walmart brand cranberry juice and its more a brown color and not very nice looking. I might try it again with white cranberry juice and raspberry juice for something different. This was my first jelly though so I may have done something wrong.

Garden Fresh Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2009
I just finish eating a great big bowl of this and just LOVED it. I miss read the ingredient and used garlic cloves instead of whole gloves but this was not a bad thing. I started with boiling the tomatoes a few seconds to remove the skin which helped eliminate straining at the end. When the soup was ready I added rice and milk to it to make it more filling and it was just so wonderful. I will be making this again and again. I will also be using this tomato soup recipe when I make my chili which usually calls for 2-3 cans tomato soup. Mmmmm yummy!!!!

Crustless Cheese Quiche

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2009
OMG these are absolutely wonderful! I read many reviews and it seemed like everyone was having a problem with the butter added so I just left it out completely and I am not disappointed. I used 2 slices ham, 7 tater tots and a few slices zucchini, cut them up really small and put them in muffin cups. It made 11 muffin quiche. My 2 year old LOVES then an is on her second one already! I will definatly make these again and again with many different add-ins. I'm not sure how long it called for baking but mine took about 35-40 min and they are nice and golden on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They did stick a little with Pam spray and might try butter next time.

The Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
I just finish making these and they turned out great. The only thing I changed was baking powder instead of baking soda as recommended by other reviewers. The only thing that didn't come out right was the the amount I got. The recipe says it will make about 48 tsp size cookies, well I got over 200 using a tsp. Not that I am complaining though cause these will disappear faster then it took to make them lol.

Budget Berry Jam

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2009
I just made this and am pretty surprised with the taste. I thought it would have some tomato taste to it but none at all. I did cut it down to 8 serving to try at first and I used cherry jello. I added sugar to it and it turned out really sweet but still good, I made a second 8serving batch and did not add the sugar and that turned out MUCH better. I will be using this recipe again, thank you.

Raisin Puffs

Reviewed: May 23, 2009
These turned out really great. I used currants and followed the recipe as written. I think next time I will use half butter and half shortening, I found they tasted a little to much like shortening and I'm not a fan of it. I will reduce the sugar a little too but that's just a personal thing. The kids loved them. I may try dried cherries too or pretty much any dried fruit would work with this, even mini chocolate chips. Thanks for sharing this great recipe, will be making these again and again!!!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: May 15, 2009
Ok really not sure what happened to my cookies but they turned out flatter then pancakes. They tasted really good though so thats why I gave it a 4 start but the flatness is what didn't give it 5 stars. I will try them again though in case it was something I did wrong. Oh even though they were very flat they were still very soft and chewy.

Berry Oatmeal Muffins

Reviewed: May 8, 2009
I just made these muffins and they were sooo easy to make. I used a 2 cup measuring cup to mix the milk, oil, egg and I added 1tbsp vanilla and mixed it up before adding to the dry mix. I also added 3/4 cup frozen blueberries and 1/2 cup fresh strawberries. I like alot of berries in my muffins. I think after tasting them I might add some bananas to it next time to add a little more sweetness. Both my girls like them as well, there a keeper. Thanks for sharing.

Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: May 7, 2009
If I rate this as the recipe calles I would give it a 4 but with my additions its deffinately a 5. I added some crushed garlic and added the rest of the ingredients to butter. I left the skin on the whole chicken but separated it from the meat. I smeared the butter mixture between the skin and meat. I also added a chicken cube in the bottom of the crockpot with a little water to give it a little extra taste. It turned out excelent. I am making this again for sure. The chicken came out so tender and juicy. Using balls of foil at the bottom helps alot, the chicken doesn't stick to the bottom and the meat doesn't turn out to soft. Thank you very much for sharing.
