Check out the simple 'Bob's lasagna' recipe for a good basic starter... no offense but I wouldn't bother with this one:(

French Toast II

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2007
I was looking for a simple french toast recipe that was a little different from my own. Now when I was mixing it at first I thought that it was calling for too much nutmeg but went with it anyways and it turns out that it was a lovely combination. I will use again when looking for a nice alternative to my homemade pancakes for my big weekend breakfasts that I do for my family. Not time consuming at all.

Black and Bleu Chicken Alfredo

I didn't like this. Not only was this very rich, it was also very expensive per portion. The high calorie count wasn't justifiable given the small amount of real food in the dish - most of the calories are from the sauces.

I love this easy, easy recipe. The flavor of the bread is comforting, full of TLC but requires only half the time and effort!!! Beware the bread is very heavy.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies I

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2007
They were too sweet, not very flavourful, and stuck to the pan the first time I made them, so I made some changes to the recipe for the next batch. I reduced the white sugar to 1/3 cup and the butter to 5/8 cup, added 2 tablespoons of real maple syrup, omitted the vanilla, and doubled the amount of cinnamon. I also greased the baking pan well and baked the cookies at 350 degrees instead of 375. They came out wonderful!

Portuguese Style Beefs

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2007
The flavour was good, but as another reviewer said the meat was tough. The second time I marinated it overnight but the beef was still tough. The third time was the charm: instead of marinating, I browned the cutlets "as is", added all the ingredients except the red pepper into the saucepan, covered, and cooked on low for two hours. I then sauteed the red pepper separately and added it to the cooked steak. I have a feeling the "round steak cutlets" I buy at my supermarket aren't the same that the recipe creator buys, which could be the problem.

Robust Garlic Baked Chicken

This was good, but not good enough to justify the high calorie count and the very high cost. Next time I'll just brine the chicken.

Hummus III

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2006
Leave overnight and this is a perfect hummus... The flavors blend beautifully. If using a blender to mix then do not give up hope when it just wont blend nice. Add a touch of oil/water and keep stopping stirring up the mix and blending. All will be good!

Excellent recipe, I doubled it but only had one loaf pan ( in the middle of a move) so filled a tray of muffin tins with the rest of the batter. Of course they didn't need to bake as long (25 min) but what a wicked recipe, some of the most simple things in life bring such sweet joy. Mmmmmmm yum.

Quinoa Tabbouleh

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2006
An excellent recipe. I replaced the onions with 3 cloves garlic and it was still good. One minor quibble: it takes much, much longer to prepare this recipe than 30 minutes, since you have to let the quinoa cool after cooking. You should budget at least 3 hours, and preferably overnight.

Rosemary and Peppercorn Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2006
This is a typical Old French recipe but pound the breast before you season and remember to crack pepper corns fast use the bottom of a small skillet and roll it across the peppercorns for consistant cracking. Also to make your sauce thicker reduce the 35% cream by SIMMERING it for about 8 minutes and add 2 minutes for each stage thicker. also be aware that you can add other seasonings for extra flavours, ie. lemon, sage, thyme and add fresh mushrooms to the sauce, but 1rst saute them slightly.

Pumpkin Cookies I

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2005
The first time I made these cookies, they didn't turn out as well as I had hoped. I had to whip the butter and sugar in a mixmaster (as opposed to creaming them by hand) to get an appropriate texture.
