Queenie's Killer Tomato Bagel Sandwich

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2008
Wow, this was so good! Quick and easy to make - I'd personally recommend using fresh bagels from the bakery specifically for this, and adding a light coating of butter before the cream cheese is spread. The fresher the ingredients on this, the better! For a lunch variation or something different, try adding minced garlic of the jar variety or hand-pressed. Thanks for sharing.

Peppermint Patty Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2008
Awesome. Received great reviews from co-workers, "to die for" & "sooooo good" to name a few.... I could not find York peppermint patties but instead used "cool mints" which I found at bulk barn. Also used cake flour, everything else was done right to the letter, including cooking time, and they turned out great. Used a non stick pan and put cooking spray on it as well, and just popped the entire tray of brownies out after onto a rack, and then cut them up.

Chicken In Basil Cream

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2008
This recipe did not do it for me. I would suggest frying the chicken in a non stick pan, as the bread crumbs on my chicken ended up sticking to the pan and making a mess of the cream sauce. The sauce was too thick and ended up looking like a glob on top of the chicken. It did taste really good however, but it looked awful!

Baked Dijon Salmon

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2008
I am a salmon lover plus I lile to cook it for my family because of its health benefits BUT I did not know that this recipe was going to be the BEST salmon recipe I have tried thus far (& I've cooked quite a few!). I used sliced almonds instead of pecans as that's what I had on hand. Even my son who's a cod lover had only a good review.

Cheese Fondue

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2008
So good!! Not only is it basic, but it isn't time-consuming. Omitted the nutmeg out of a personal preference, and added a squirt of lemon juice as per the suggestions of other reviewers and it turned out great - I had no problems with the cheese lumping, and served this with bread cubes. Thanks for sharing!

Stuffed Pepperoncini

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2008
This was just fantastic! Left out the milk though because we didn't want our mixture to be too creamy and they still turn out well. Tip; don't overcook the bacon, and try adding dill to the cream cheese before stuffing into pepperoncinis. Took these to a family gathering and there was nothing left, thanks!

Buffalo Shrimp

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2008
This was yummy! Spicy and good at the same time - to make things a bit different we also added in a pinch or two of Old Bay Seasoning. Slight recommendation though: unless you are using a deep fryer, the amount of oil is way too much! Try cutting back to maybe two or three, particularly if you find the batter is coming off the shrimp.

Cantaloupe Sherbet

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2008
What a refreshing recipe! It wasn't overbearingly sweet like I had expected it to be, and the cantaloupe flavour would have set it off anyways. A definite luncheon hit, will be making this one again! Thanks for sharing.

Black Beans and Rice

Simple and really good! I also added chili powder and cumin, 1/2 tsp of each, as another reviewer suggested, and substituted salsa for the tomato sauce.

Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2008
I am surprised by some of the more negative reviews, I thought this recipe was excellent. I had it on high for 3 hrs in the slow cooker and added coarsely chopped onion & green pepper at the start of cooking. Will definitely make again! Thanks!
