Pot Sticker Dumplings

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2008
This recipe was great!! After reading reviews, i only used half the tho and made 8 pot stickers with this filling recipe. I will double the filling next time and use the same recipe for the dough. The taste was fantastic, texture perfect and i will be making this often. I didnt have the chinese spice and it was still delicious. I strongly recommend the low sodium soya sauce indicated in the recipe. I almost used regular... the taste was perfect and regular soya sauce would be too salty.

Old Fashioned Coconut Cream Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2008
This is 'the one'. It tastes like the ones you get at restaurants, but fresher, more decadent and sublimely rich. In my version that I'll be keeping in my recipe book I halved the half-and-half and used 1 1/2 cups of coconut milk instead, which brings out that coconut flavor for sure. I used flour instead of the 'suggestions' of using cornstarch with great results. I also made my own whipped topping (1 carton of whipping cream, 2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar, and 1 teaspoon coconut extract.) Also made the very simple 'Graham Cracker Crust' submitted by Janaan Cunningham here on Allrecipes. Honestly the whole pie took about an hour to make, with very little effort. It will impress for sure! My tip for making the filling, think of Dory from 'Finding Nemo', just keep whisking, just keep whisking. It will be about 25 minutes, but you'll feel it start to thicken up. Once it comes to a boil on low heat (once the bubbles break through, and it will take a little bit) its done. It should be thick like thick pudding. Just keep whisking! I should add I used a regular pot to cook it in and after pouring into the crust, it sat in the fridge overnight before I put the topping on.

very good. I'll use coconut milk next time for more flavour. Little brothers enjoyed it as an intro to curry :)

Shell-Roni

I made this for my family last night, substituting sausage for bacon, and salsa for the tomatoes. To the sauce I added some freshly ground pepper and some chili powder. Not bland at all, a very quick and simple dish, and very filling.

the only thing I changed was instead of garlic, I used some diced shallots and i halved the mushrooms instead of slicing and cooked them a minutes longer.they were amazing, my husband had made hollandaise sauce for asperagus and i ended up dipping all my mushrooms in it.you all HAVE to try it with hollandaise,it was so good that my eyes rolled back in my head!

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: May 28, 2008
I thought this was very good. I didn't have buttermilk, so I made it using 1 cup of milk + 1 tablespoon white vinegar, and *believe it or not* I didn't have eggs, so I substituted 3 tablespoons of mayo for each egg. I also used corn flour, as for some reason I had a hard time finding cornmeal. It turned out beautifully! A keeper fo' sure.

Sweet and Savory Kale

I thought this was good - my husband really liked it. I toasted the almonds lightly (in a dry pan) before adding - but didn't find that they added much to the flavour, so if you don't have any on hand for the garmish, the recipe is still great.

WOW.... This was great! My daughter is having a Greek Day for her social studies class. This was a great recipe...simple to follow and not as time comsuing as I orginally thought. I used a mixture of walnuts and pecans, and I plan to sprinkle on some icing sugar as a garnish. OPA!!! Annie

I made these with regular margarine and natural crunchy PB and they turned out great. I had to give them away as gifts because I couldn't stop eating them! Note: light PB has much more sugar than regular so use full fat or natural PB.

Japanese Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2008
A keeper. I also baked mine, coating them in the flour and then garlic powder, salt, and pepper, for 30 minutes at 350° F. I did give them a spray of cooking spray after coating. After the initial 30 minutes I poured the sauce over each of the wings, letting it pool on the baking sheet for an extra 30 minutes. I turned the wings every 10 minutes or so it got more coating as it reduced in the oven. And they were sticky, lovely and very yummy. Husband approved! (I left out the deep frying and the oil and egg.)

I added 1 tbsp instant hazelnut coffee with the eggs and butter as it gives a nice coffee taste. Melted Butterscotch chips drizzled on the biscotti once baked gives a nice taste to it as well.

Chewy Granola Bars

The recipe needs more honey as it does not stick enough. I added a nutty all grain cereal. The best option in most desserts like this is to use parchment paper on the bottom of the pan. You can easily remove the recipe out of the pan
