One Egg Lemon Pound Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2010
I am giving this 4 stas because it was so simple to make and very good. It was, however, more like a quick bread than a cake - hence, the instructions for cutting in the butter. I noticed some people decided to beat the butter with the sugar, as they would with a cake but I found it worked fine as written. Keep in mind that this method requires a light hand (as in making biscuits) so if you cut in the butter, I would recommend making a well for the wet ingredients and mixing only until blended. I did add a sugar and lemon juice glaze as recommended by another user and this did add a nice lemon flavour. Good recipe - will make again.

These were GREAT! The sour cream sauce really made the dish...dont skip it. I didnt have any jalapeno peppers so I used hot red chillis and it turned out beautifully. I will make these again, for sure.

Movie Star Popcorn

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2010
I made this last night, while watching the Oscars with my family. DELICIOUS. Worked very well in my electric popper. I used 2 TBSP of sunflower oil instead of the peanut oil, and coarse sea salt. Needed just a pinch more salt once popped but nothing else. It will be our "go to" popcorn recipe from now on.

I had a problem with thickening but I think I'll make it again. It made nice leftovers. Don't use too much garlic or leave out completely.

Coconut Oatmeal Cookies I

I just had one of these warm out of the oven and YUM!! So good! I was worried about the dough being so wet/sticky when putting on the cookie sheet, but it didn't make any difference. My 2 year old son ate one too and came back for more!!

Healthy Banana Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2010
I made these this afternoon. They turned out alright. I used apples instead of dates, apple sauce instead of oil and after my first batch came out of the oven I decided they needed some more sweetness. I added some raw sugar to the rest of the mix. I also added some cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg. They were a lot better after the alterations!

Easy Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2010
This is such a versatile basic recipe that can be altered based on what you have in the fridge. I agree with the previous reviewer but also disagree a bit. I don't think it is rude, I like to think of it more as people being able to adapt the recipe to the ingredients in the home. :) I know I did. I doubled it and added peas and red pepper, just for colour. It was delicious. Half the cheese was mixed in with the ingredients and the other half was on top. I served it with boiled brussel sprouts. Oh and sauteed onions on top makes this dish Royal!!! My son's friend was over after supper at his house and still ate 2 helpings :) Tells you something about the recipe... Thanks! Two thumbs up from us!

Vegan Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2010
This was my first time baking vegan and it turned out alright. I made some changes though...I used whole wheat flour instead of white, raw sugar instead of white sugar and I used organic apple sauce instead of the oil. A crusty layer formed on the top of the brownies that tastes kind of bland but the inside is as moist and tasty as can be! They're not as good as regular brownies but thats to be expected! These are a pretty good alternative and really, quite simple to make :)

Banana Cheesecake with Caramel Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2010
I made this for a family gathering of 10 people. I thought the banana flavor may be compromised by the caramel so I just used Whipped cream. Tasted like HEAVEN! Next time I have a large group over I will make it again for sure! simply lovely.

Fabulous Wet Burritos

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2010
this was amazing! I sent my husband to the grocery store with a list and he came home with steak chilli without beans as it was all he could find.. it looked kinda like dog food but the whole dish was amazing! I cooked in a 9x13 pan and added some cheese to the beef mixture before rolling! I omitted the tomato soup and served with lettuce tomato and sour cream... Husband loved it I loved it and I am going to make this dish for my family's next get together! Thank you so much for such an easy quick dinner recipe!

Dash's Donair

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2010
This is awesome. Made a double batch and froze one. When I used the second one I made a sauce of 1 cup mayo; 1/4 cup sugar; 1 tbsp vinegar and garlic powder to taste. Warmed up thinly sliced Donair meat in microwave and melted cheddar cheese on top. Warmed up tortillas and put together. It was even better the second time around. Next time I will put tomatoes and onions in wrap.
