Baked Beans II

Easy and tasty! Made these to accompany honey garlic ribs from this site. I thought the two went well together.

Honey Garlic Ribs

These ribs were pretty darn good. I did use slightly more garlic then the recipe called for though. I thought the sauce was great and wouldn't mind trying it on chicken wings too.

Eggless Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2006
I used this recipe because i had no eggs in the house. I expected a mediocre cookie, but found them moist, easy and delicious. I added 2 teaspoons of vanilla to the recipe (i am a vanilla fanatic!) and they were so delicious. I piped the batter into tiny flowers and baked. They came out perfectly and the guests at my party all commented on the wonderful cookies. I was even asked by several to pass on the recipe!

Oriental Dipping Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2006
Mmmm this is good! It isn't just a great sauce for spring rolls, but it makes an awesome dipping sauce for deep fried chicken, too. Yummy! My kids love sweet and sour chicken balls, but they don't like the sweet and sour sauce (go figure). Thankfully, when I order in, the sauce comes on the side, so I tried this as a substitute and it was awesome!

Baked Omelet Roll

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2006
I liked this omelette because it was different. Even my picky 9 year old liked it. The first time I made it, I followed the recipe exactly. My family liked it, but I thought it was a little plain. This time I added some green onions, diced ham and a little bit of broccoli. The flavor combination was perfect for me. This is a great basic recipe that can be tweaked to suit just about everybody's taste! Thanks.

Dry Rub for Ribs

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2006
This is one of our favorite combinations for seasoning pork. Just awesome! It yields the perfect quantity for our family since I prefer to make rubs as needed rather then store them. I have yet to try this on chicken but I bet it would be great. Definately worth making when you plan on grilling pork chops!

Lemonade Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2006
These cookies aren't bad, at least in the flavor department. As far as texture, well they were way to soft to eat like a cookie. They fell apart. If I'd have baked them any longer they would have burned, so I'm not exactly sure why they turned out like that. I've stored the leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge, so maybe that'll help them firm up a bit. I will try this recipe one more time though because they didn't taste bad. My issue was with the texture. I'm just wondering if maybe I did something wrong and that's why they turned out so soft and literally fell apart.

Spicy Garlic Lime Chicken

Wow! This is sooo good! Fast, easy and loaded with flavor! I just used fresh garlic in place of powdered. Served with roasted potatoes and buttered baby carrots. I'll be making this again!

Swedish Oatmeal Lace

Mmmm, these are great! I've been looking for a recipe like this for a long time. I'd had them once before, but couldn't remember exactly what they were called. I kept coming up with almond lace cookies, but then I came across this recipe. BINGO! Exactly what I was looking for. These are not only pretty to serve, they're a tasty treat too!

French Dip Sandwiches

I love the simplicity of this recipe, and the flavor is really good, too. I made two small changes, though. I added fresh garlic in place of powdered and I added two finely minced shallots as well, but not because I felt the recipe was lacking but rather because we just really enjoy the flavor of shallots. Thanks for a great recipe. I'll be making this one again and again!

Barbeque Halibut Steaks

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2006
Tried this recipe for the first time last night and I must say it was fantastic! I marinated the Halibut for several hours before grilling. I think the butter flavor is essential so rather than substituting oil for butter I just melted the butter and allowed it to sit in the marinade before adding the Halibut. Of course it thickened up again, but once the Halibut was on the grill, it just melted into the fish. My whole family enjoyed this recipe. Thank you!

Zucchini Sticks

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2006
These were just okay. I'm not sure what I did wrong, but the batter didn't stick well to the zucchini, so the end result was closer to fried plain zucchini rather then the batter coated, deep fried zucchini sticks I sometimes order in restaurants. I'm not ready to give up on this recipe just yet though. I'll have to try these one more time and see if they turn out better next time.

Sweet and simple, but very good. I made one small addition to the recipe by adding a teaspoon of pure vanilla extract. My kids loved this sauce served over vanilla ice-cream.

Blackened Chicken

The flavor of this chicken is just awesome! After cooking the breasts, I sliced them and wrapped them in tortillas with sauteed onions, peppers, salsa and a dollop of sour cream. Delicious! I'm certain they'd be fabulous served intact as a main course too. That's how I'll try them next time.

Yakatori

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2006
This is a fabulous recipe! We like it best with chicken, but it's also delicious made with beef. Have yet to try it with pork. I used fresh ginger because it was all I had on hand. The only other time I had tried Yakatori was at one of our local Japanese restaurants (it was made with chicken) and I loved it. I had no idea how to make it at home until I came across this recipe and I'm glad I did because it's just great and everyone in my family loves it. Thanks Rayna!

Roasted Potatoes with Greens

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2006
This side dish is absolutely wonderful! We loved it and the addition of spinach was brilliant! The combination worked beautifully. I'll be making this time and again since it works well alongside just about everything! I did add slightly more spinach than the recipe called for because the first time I made it I found the spinach wilted away and there was barely any left. Thanks for sharing such a simple but great recipe!

Asian Fire Meat

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2006
This recipe is great! We have this at least once a month. It's super easy to throw together and I always let it marinate overnight. Usually serve over rice. To get the meat nice and thin I throw it in the freezer for about 20 minutes and that makes it so much easier to slice into those paper thin slices this recipe calls for. For those who find the salty flavor of the soy sauce overpowering, you might want to consider using one of the darker, Chinese variety of soy sauce. The flavor is deeper but it's less salty than its lighter, Japanese style counterpart.
