Cream Puff Cake

I was feeling lazy and decided to use a golden cake mix for the bottom instead of making the choux pastry. I only poured about 3/4 of the mix in the pan and made 8 cupcakes with the remainder. Everything else I kept the same. My family loved it!

The cake itself was amazing! i put the nuts and coconut through a food processor cause i'm not a fan of texture in cakes so this was perfect. it was moist and tasty. WILL make again.

Banana Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2009
Based on the recipe as is presented. It was so runny! not eatable. Maybe if I had followed the suggestions of using starch. I had this thing on the stove for almost 30 minutes waiting for it to thicken up, didn't. Thought the fridge would do the trick, didn't. The flavour isn't good enough for me to try again. Sorry. I'll just use a different recipe for a custard and put some bananas in it.

My family loved this recipe! I did saute some finely chopped onion first along with fresh mushrooms, which I prefer to canned. Great recipe

What a fantastic recipe! The chicken was sooo moist. You should always make two. Great for pot pies, soups and sandwiches! If you have a vacuum sealer you can seal and freeze the chicken.

My family really loved this easy to make dessert. Next time I might try making this a two layer cake and fill it with icecream. I"ll let you know how it works out!

Gone with the Wind Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2009
Wow. Thank God I found this recipe. I was looking for a Angel Food cake recipe that did not call for a dozen eggs. I mean I love cake but that's just too much. This cake is amazing. Light and fluffy. Perfect. I used a 9 inch round pan and managed to get 3 seperate layers. That's plenty of cake. Mine was finished in 40 minutes so pay attention. 50 minutes in my oven would have dried it out and burned it. Regardles, this is a keeper that I'll be making with various fillings. Thanks.

Lemon Lover's Pound Cake

This is the greatest recipe for a lemon cake. So moist and tasty. I use it with everything. In the summer I scatter in blueberries. I take canned poppy seeds and spread it in between the batter. This is a recipe I'll be making for the rest of my life.

Smoky Mountain Chicken

Pretty good. I didn't use the italian seasoning, though. I substituted seasoning salt and used hickory flavored bbq sauce...and coated each piece of chicken individually prior to baking. Next time I'll try this with a spicy bbq sauce and pepperjack cheese. Definately worth making again!

Very simple and tasty recipe! Perfect quantity too as it's best fresh from the oven. I found the leftovers a little soggy the next day, but this is definately a recipe I'll be making again.

Granny Kat's Pumpkin Roll

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2006
This is absolutely fantastic and oh so simple to prepare! I was a bit nervous about turning out and rolling the cake, but I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out perfectly. I did find however that when I had finished the roll, I had enough pumpkin (I just used a small can of pumpkin puree) and enough of the cream cheese mixture leftover to make another roll. I found the 9x13" pan size was perfect once I sliced the roll, so next time I'll stick with the 9x13" inch pan but double up on the batter and make two rolls instead of one. Yummy! Thanks so much for sharing your granny's great recipe!

Pig Picking Cake III

Yum! Refreshing citrus flavor, not too overpowering, compliments the taste of yellow cake perfectly. The only thing I did that deviated from the recipe was to dust the cake with a bit of confectioner's sugar, strictly for presentation purposes.

Fabulous recipe! So easy and so good! Added bonus is the versatility. This can be used on different salads to accompany different meals...not just with steak. Pairs beautifully with Asian style pork ribs too. This one's a keeper! Thanks!

Pumpkin Bread IV

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2006
This pumpkin bread is sooo good!! Years ago I had a recipe for pumpkin muffins that was given to me in a home economics class I had to take in high school. They were the best tasting pumpkin muffins I had ever had, but being young and careless I misplaced the recipe and never found one that came even close to having the same wonderfully moist and delicious flavor. I've tried many different pumpkin muffin and bread recipes over the years and not one could compare...until now. This pumpkin bread is the absolute closest I have come to finding a recipe that could replicate the great flavor of those pumpkin muffins from years ago. I love it and this recipe is one that I plan to hang onto for years to come. Thank you so much for sharing it!

Shepherd's Pie VI

Made some small additions based on personal preference, but all in all I think this is a great starter recipe. The original recipe was good but lacked the flavor I was looking for so the second time I added some minced garlic, corn, gravy granules, a splash of worcestershire sauce and some dried savory to mine. I thought it turned out great!

Sensational Sirloin Kabobs

Excellent! This is by far the best kabob recipe I have tried from this site, and there are several very good ones. One tiny substitution...I used grape tomatoes because I couldn't find any decent cherry tomatoes at the market. I'd love to try this with pork or chicken next time!

Blueberry Dream Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2006
I'm giving this four stars because my family and guests said they liked it. I personally didn't care for it, but I've never been a huge fan of canned pie filling anyway, so that's what did it for me. According to everyone else though, it was good. I did read the previous reviews and opted to use a store bought graham crust. I'll make this again because my family enjoyed it. Thanks.

Garlic Parmesan Monkey Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2006
I'm sorry but this recipe just bombed for me. Maybe I did something wrong but I found it lacked flavor and the bread dried out. I'm not sure if using the eggs had anything to do with it, since the recipe didn't specify small, medium or large eggs. I usually buy large eggs, so maybe that was part of the problem. I might give this recipe another try only using smaller eggs next time because I'm reluctant to just write it off as a bad recipe. I think with a few adjustments (like adding more garlic, using freshly grated parmesan reggiano, even some cracked black pepper and smaller eggs maybe) it might be pretty good.
