Big Batch Kris Kringle Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2009
I found these cookies easy to make and delicious. The cranberry tartness goes wonderfully with the sweet white chocolate. The pecans add a great texture. I will definitely make again.

Slow Cooker Apple Butter

I got about 3-4 cups of actual apple butter wow it cooked down! I just left it on low for 20-22 hours then it was all done! So good!

Papa Drexler's Bavarian Pretzels

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
Tastes like Pretzels. I am quite impressed with my first ever try on this. The dough is a little hard to roll and knead, but definitely worth it. I found it a tad doughy after 10 minutes so I left it in for another couple mins, making sure they didn't burn.

Mocha Meringues

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
This was a fabulous treat! I used Instant Jamaican Coffee as opposed to regular, and I piped (for added height) the cookies onto my pan before I tossed them in the oven and they had a fabulous texture when they finished. Crispy on the outside & tender and chewy on the inside. They melted in your mouth, and the guests I served them to had nothing but rave reviews for them. This is definitely going to be added to my holiday fav list!

Malaysian Barbecue Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2009
We liked this recipe, but found the flavour a bit strong, which was I think due to the sesame oil, even though I put half sesame and half vegetable oil. Would like to try making again, but without any sesame. Just not big sesame fans, sorry!

Butter Tarts

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2009
I found these tarts very "dry"- I guess I like mine with a little less raisins/nuts and more butter and sugar mixture. I also had to bake them for 35-40 min at 325 and were not at all overdone.

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

I had been using a very traditional bread stuffing recipe in the past but decided to kick it up a bit with this version. WOW am I glad that I did. One of my guests said that she usually hates stuffing...well, she had 2 servings. This one changed her mind!

Garlic Chive Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2009
This was one of the best chicken dishes I've had in a while, and I'm giving this the full 5 stars, but only after my adjustments, which were not major. Most importantly, I used half the amount of chicken, so if you're following the recipe as written, double everything but the chicken, or the sauce will not be sufficient. I cut the raw chicken into bite sized pieces before tossing in flour, and deep fried it until light brown. Everything else I did the same, except I fried the chives in the sauce for a few minutes at the end. This was devoured!

Special Banana Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
I *love* this recipe! I throw this together often, the only changes I've made are wholewheat flour, a splash of vanilla, and I use real butter & pecans. This always turns out SO DELICIOUSLY MOIST. Seriously, I can't get enough of this wonderful banana bread recipe - thanks so much for sharing it! <3

Seven Layer Taco Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
This turned out great!! I cut the recipe in half and made two pie plates, one spicey, one not. For the spicey one, I mixed 1/2 can green chillies with 1/2 the taco seasoning into the beans and spread in the bottom of the pie plate, mixed the cream cheese and sour cream, 1/2 the taco seasoning, 1/2 can green chillies and spread that on the bean layer, spread the salsa next, layered cheddar cheese and jalapeno monerey jack, then diced green onions and diced tomatoes, sliced olives and diced sliced jalapeno pepper. Baked in oven at 350 for 30 minutes and served with toasted baugette slices and assorted crackers. It was a huge hit!! Thanks for sharing your recipe!!

One Dish Chicken and Rice Bake

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
I liked it! Needed a lazy way to get all of the food groups in. I diced my chicken, and also added about 1.5-2 c frozen broccoli flowrets. I didn't have paprika but used chili powder instead. Surprisingly good and minimal effort :)

Crusty White Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
This is a terrific and easy recipe. I made this recipe one evening, and let the loaves sit on racks in their pans overnite. The next morning I noticed that the loaf bottoms were a little soft and moist; so I put them on a pizza stone in the oven @ 400 for about 15 minutes to crisp up the crust. Otherwise, don't change a thing! Thanks for a fail-safe bread recipe!

Sausage Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2009
I'm giving this recipe 3 stars because I think it's a great jumping off point. I did the recipe pretty much as is, and I found it a little bland. I think it needs a little something more, some heat or something. Definitely worth experimenting with.
