French Fried Potatoes

As everyone says, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The kids thought they tasted like New York Fries.

Baked French Fries I

These were delicious. I didn't have any paprika so made them without it, and they turned out yummy anyways. I can only imagine the extra oompf if I'd been able to add that too. This is a keeper recipe so I'll add it next time....

Best Toffee Ever - Super Easy

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2009
Tastes quite good...this is hard like MacIntosh Toffee. I used all chopped/crushed pecans and I used milk chocolate chips. There is quite a bit of toffee left in your mouth though as you are chewing and it gets harder and harder as you chew and you end up with a little ball of hard candy in your mouth. I want to figure out how to make this a bit softer and more brittle and not so grainy and hard.

Sweet Candied Orange and Lemon Peel

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2009
After playing around with this recipe a couple times I found that blanching the peels 3 times for 10 minutes each worked well. I simmered the peels in the sugar syrup for 45 minutes....keep an eye on the pot, so they do not dry out. I'm on the "keeping the pith on" team. These will make a great addition to any Christmas plate.

Good, fast dinner that everyone loves. First time I made exact as written....good. Second time I used ground beef, a little wine and cream of mushroom soup as I was out of sour cream..... really good.

Completely underwhelmed by this recipe? Not sure what happened, may try again. Hubby thought it was ok but dry and not too much taste.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2009
Really disappointed with this... As written, the recipe has way too much apple and not enough kiwi. Apple was all you could see or taste and the kiwi disappeared to nothing. Thought 3 T of fruit perserves was way too much - would make it like a glaze - so used 2 T and was still WAY too much. Plus the sugar made all the fruit release their juice so it was just mushy fruit slop - didn't hold the diced shape at all. Am so disappointed I haven't even bothered to make the cinnamon chips cuz the salsa doesn't look appetizing enough to scoop up :(

Bat Cupcakes

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2009
So easy to decorate, the kids had a blast helping out. When making the bat wings, the kids found it easier to saw the cookies in half vs pressing down on them to split them in half. When they pressed down on them, the cookie tended to break apart not necessarily in half. Otherwise, this was a fun project.

Mom's Sushi Rice

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2009
I've used this recipe about half a dozen times. It is perfect, the secret I never did before was the sugar and rice vinegar when I cooked my japanese rice. My older daughter loves california rolls and the compliment I got from her when she opened up her lunch was that she thought I bought them at a Japanese restaurant. I didn't like it as sweet though so put a little less sugar in.

Salmon Macaroni Bake

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2009
Quick & easy to throw together. Had to use up an 18oz. boneless raw salmon in my fridge & had 2 boxes of Kraft white cheddar mac&cheese lying around. I just doubled the recipe, except 18oz salmon, not 12oz. (only for those who like salmon, this was a good amount & I think less would've been not enough seafood.) I also thought 1tbsp of onion was not enough (how can you even taste that little?) so added 1/2 an onion to the original recipe list. As an added touch, I put a thin layer of sliced cheddar on top while it baked so it would melt over the whole dish. Looked yummy! Dad and the 2 girls (10&7) went for thirds At least 2 of them will usually think I need more salt in things I make, but I didn't need to put any in! It tasted great the way it was. You can look at my submitted photo for my first try at this recipe.

Chicken Breasts Pierre

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2009
This was really good! I made this with beef broth, instead of water, because I had a carton already open in the fridge. I also used a bit of cayenne, instead of the hot sauce, and added sliced onion and chopped red pepper. I cut the chicken breasts into small cubes, before cooking, and served it over basmati rice. Next time I would like to try skipping the flour part, and just cook the cut up chicken, and then add to the sauce. Thanks for sharing!

Made this on Halloween for a dinner party, everyone went crazy for it. I add walnuts to the cake as well as vanilla extract, extra cinnamon and nutmeg. Took another reviews suggestion and add orange zest and juice to the filling...really gave it a nice flavor especially when it sits overnight.
