Black Bean Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
I guess for a brownie recipe made with beans these are pretty good. But I did not like the texture that much. I preferred them cold with icing on top - so that kinda goes against making these a healthy treat.

Grandma's Graham Cracker Pudding

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2009
I made this while in a rush which was not a good idea. Didn't cook the pudding for quite long enough on the stove so it was pretty goopy but tasted very good. The graham crust was delicious - I plan on using it with other fillings. The topping turned out rubbery for me but again I was rushing and may not have beaten the egg whites long enough. Next time I would skip that and just put the remaining crumbs directly on top of the pudding. The flavour was subtle and sweet - good desert for a heave meal.

Toasted Party Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2009
Mmm, this kind of party mix always reminds me of christmas. I used 10 cups total of pretzels, cheerios, shreddies, and cheese nips (brother is allergic to nuts). I also increased the worcestershire sauce to 1/4 cup and only used half the oil.

Creamy Pear Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2009
This was really tasty. Quite a pleasant surprise. The almond extract really enhances the flavor of the pears. I don't have lemon extract so I substituted 1/2 tsp of lemon zest. It was hardly noticeable. I had to double the flour for the topping to get it crumbly, so I doubled the sugar as well. Maybe it's obvious to some, but I think it should be mentioned that it needs time to set up before serving. Make it ahead. Thanks for sharing, and for the mental gymnastics required to remember the recipe! :)

Buffalo Chicken Wraps

This recipe was really quite good, although if I were to do it again I would have less hot sauce... It was a tad too spicey... maybe I'll try a different type of hot sauce...

This was so delicious! And it made enough to feed the whole basketball team too! All I did differently was add a couple extra jalapenos and that's because the boys like it HOT!

Zesty Chicken Meatloaf

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2009
I wasn't fond of the texture of the ground chicken and my husband thought that the taco seasoning was too strong. My thought was "I wonder how this would taste with good ol' ground beef." I guess I am not ready to accept "healthier" versions of meatloaf yet.

Creamy Sweet Potato With Ginger Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2009
This is a thick, sweet bisque. The spices are strong. No one at my house liked it because of those qualities. Stick with the butternut squash type recipe if you prefer savory over sweet.

Tuna Noodle Supreme

Very nice change from the cream of mushroom version. Didn't have the red pepper or green onions so I just used some diced onion. Also added a 1/4 tsp garlic, though I don't know if it mattered. It was really tasty comfort food.

Coconut Macaroon Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2009
I enjoyed this dessert but the brownie part just wasn't that good, I found it a little dry and cakey. Needless to say, it crumbled when cutting it up. I don't think I'll make it again unless I use a different recipe for the brownie part. And instead of giving it 5 stars after making so many changes we should start reviewing the recipe itself! Just food for thought

Pizza Dough I

I have made this as is, and I have also tried letting it rise and whatnot. I really liked that I could whip this up in no time without waiting for rising, and also if I plan on pizza I can make it earlier and let it rise. Definately a keeper.
