Really, really good! It's so simple but refreshing and tasty. I used regular cherry juice as can't get frozen concentrate. This is my new summer drink.

Barley Broccoli Soup

Excellent soup. Rather disconcertingly, the color changed to a light tan, instead of staying green. I used skim milk powder, reconstituted (to re make it lower calorie), and omitted the bacon.

Chocolate Brittle Surprise

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
Great! I, too, used salted crackers. I made an easy recipe easier: I melted the butter and sugar, then added the chocolate chips, stirred until smooth, AND added the broken crackers (about 50 in all)- mixed it all together, spread it out on a foil lined tray. Didn't bother to spray the foil - not necessary. The pan is in the fridge now and I've been sampling. Delicious. Will make again.

This is the best brownie recipe ever! I wouldn't believe there was zucchini in it had I not put it in myself. It was fudgey and moist and full of flavour. DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING. FOLLOW THE RECIPE TO THE "T" and you will be amazed!!!! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe.

Pumpkin Roll I

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2009
Excellent recipe. Very moist cake and not too sweet. I made it this afternoon and served it this evening. Everyone enjoyed it very much. Very easy to make. Cooked it on parchment paper, turned the cooked cake out onto a tea towel sprinkled with powdered sugar. I did add more spices: doubled the cinnamon, plus added 1 tsp each allspice and ginger; and added allspice and cinnamon to the filling as well. I will be making this roll again this weekend.

Cheese Straws

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2009
These had great taste and texture but the reason for only four stars is that I could not get the ingredients to come together where I could form a ball, let a lone a "snake". So I added about 1/3 c of soya margarine to the mix and it came together perfectly. I also added about a tablespoon of Dijon mustard for some extra flavour. Everyone enjoyed them very much. I will make this again but probably use half and half margarine from the start.

This combination of flavors is awesome. I mixed some chopped cilantro with sour cream and used it like you woul use plain sour cream or salsa with regular quesadillas. I served it with a small side salad.

Simple Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2009
This produced 4 medium (perfect size for us) loaves of bread. Nice texture and good flavor. I started off following this recipe to a tee but decided to use only one half cup of honey - I don't like a sweet loaf of bread. I found there was too much flour for the quantity of liquid. I had a very stiff dough to work with and still had another cup of WW flour to go - which I had to leave out. In my experience, it's better to incorporate all the whole wheat flour first: it's easier to incorporate white flour at the end than WW. However, next time I'll start of with at least one half cup more liquid. I didn't put the butter on the outside of the loaves either. We love the crisp crust of a freshly baked loaf and after storage, the crust softens anyway.

Easy to Remember Pie Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
WOW! This is the best pie crust I have ever made, tasted, seen and felt! I think that novice bakers can make this though. To make a reasonably sweet pie crust though, add 1-2 teaspoons of sugar to the mix. Great pie crust. Will definitely add this to my pie collection! Thanks Dierdree, you have solved all of my problems!

Chicken with Mushrooms, Prosciutto, and Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
this was so good! i used chicken breast instead of thighs and cut the recipe to feed 2 people instead of 6. i was iffy about using the wine for the sauce since im not a huge alcohol fan, even the taste of it in my food. i decided i would try it with the wine and im very glad i did. came out perfect. i made some mixed veggies with it and just tossed those in the remaining sauce with some salt and pepper. this is going in my keeper box for sure. might try it with thighs next time just to see if theres any difference in taste. but certainly a 5 star with the breasts.

Sweet Potato Pound Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2009
Thanks for a great recipe, Anne. I made this at the weekend and it was a perfect cake to take into work. Not too sweet, even with the glaze, easy to cut and pretty light. I made the following modifications based on previous reviewers: - half butter substituted for apple sauce - more spice with 1tsp mixed spice, 1/2 tsp ginger - baked for an hour I should have put the glaze on earlier, I waited 20 minutes before inverting and glazing, the cake wasn't warm enough to fully absorb the glaze. Will definitely make this again.

Bertha's Blueberry Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2009
Very quick and easy to make. Really loved the blueberry sauce. So good with vanilla ice cream. The dumplings have potential but I found them too heavy and not very flavourful. Used butter instead of lard. A lighter dumpling with some vanilla & lemon zest added would make a huge difference.
