Strawberry Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2008
I had no problems baking these muffins as the recipe was pretty much straightford.I liked the texture and moistness of the muffin, but I liked mine a little more sweeter. I shall add some strawberry jam to my next batch. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

Thai Green Curry Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2008
I added vegetables (red and yellow peppers, asparagus, carrot, bamboo shoots) and used thin pork slices and 6 prawns instead of 1 pound of chicken. I did add a handful of Thai Basil at the end just because I have heaps on hand. I am personally not a big fan of Thai curries, but I think this is the best one I've ever tasted and my partner thinks it deserves a 5 even though it's not the best he's ever had.

Taco Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2008
excellent with the kids - I made it a little healthier by not adding the cream and baking my own potatoe wedges sprayed with a light oil and covered in morrocan spice. excellent recipe gave me a new way with nachos without all the corn chips

Vietnamese Fresh Spring Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2008
Didn't really care for this, for all the effort of prep and finding the ingredients, the final product wasn't all that fantastic taste wise. I liked the texture and aroma of the herbs, but was really lacking in flavor. I made the shrimp ones with the addition of crisp blanched asparagus, shredded carrots and sprouts. And I made another lot with marinated thin pork slices which helped with the flavor aspect. My favorite part was the 1st sauce, without the sauce the rolls would have been barely edible. The final product did look really cool though, I wouldn't make this again unless it was for a fancy party or something. It was a good light meal, very fitting for a hot afternoon.

Decorator Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2008
Yup, we really liked this one, I needed it for a cake so I added a bit more milk (also I was only trying it so I scaled the recipe to 1/4 of the recipe). I'll be making the full recipe this weekend for our daughters's birthday cake (twins). I liked how it is a stiff icing though, no smudges when it needs to be transported to the party venue! Update 10 October 08: When I made the full recipe to ice cupcakes (Fudge Cake recipe on Allrecipes) I didn't alter the recipe at all and it was really good to pipe (though my piping does need more practice!).

Fudge Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2008
We loved it. Don't know why some people didn't like it, or how come it came out dry for them, not all ovens bake evenly, and mine is a very difficult oven, yet this cake didn't burn, baked perfectly and had a fudge cake texture. I baked in two round pans, which I had buttered and floured, and we're making again this weekend for our birthday party. It was also really nice to come across a recipe for a chocolate cake (with eggs, I tried eggless ones too which were really nice, on this site) not made with actual chocolate, and NOT from a PACKAGED MIX! Thanks a bunch for the recipe!! I might have to try those as cup cakes (adjusting cooking time of course) as I think they'd be FANTASTIC! Update 10 Oct 08: Made them as cupcakes and they turned out amazingly well! Had to adjust cooking time, but they were a HUGE success, piped some Decorator Frosting from this site http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Decorator-Frosting/ and they were easily transported to the party venue, the icing didn't stick to the plastic wrap at all. I'm one happy camper!

Chile Garlic BBQ Salmon

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2008
Great recipe. Made it in the oven. My wife normally does not like fish, but she loved this. Very easy to make, and prepare.(I served it on a bed of rice) Highly recommend this for even the novice, could not get any easier. I cooked it at 190 degrees C for 30 Min in a Al. Foil bag and just scored the fish and poured the mixture in the bag. Thanks for this great recipe.

Swiss Cheesy Cauliflower

This was good. I added some breadcumbs & additional cheese on top of the dish. It was slightly bland but it complimented the spicy lamb cutlets I made very well.

British Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
This is the real bread pudding that my pommy mum makes - all the other connotations that i noticed in my mind are bread and butter puddings Dad used to call this the good stodge and was what I grew up on with alot of siblings and was a great desert to use up stale bread (which didnt happen often lol) Excellent - I leave out the peal though cant stand it.

Blueberry Coffee Cake II

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
I followed the reciexactly and it turned out very nice, but a little dry. I understand that this is a coffe cake and therefore should be eaten with said beverage. However, i still prefer it to be a little less dry. So next time i will decrease the flour to 1 1/2 cups and increase the vegetable oil to 1/3 cup. i will also double the steusel topping and try to melt the sugar a bit more before putting it on top of the cake.

This came out full of flavour. Different to traditional cottage pie, but the added extras, sat well with me. Nice.
