 I am a true family man. I live with my partner and daughter (9 years old). I not only love cooking, but also love gardening. I like to look after my family - cooking and gardening for them most days. My working hours are flexible enough to permit me to collect my daughter from school and prepare our evening meal most days. I like to wind down at the end of each day with a beer or two, finishing off with a glass of wine with my partner at night.

Apple Cake I

This cake made the house smell delicious but unfortunately I found it had way too much oil and cinnamon. Most reviewers have suggested cutting back on the oil among other things but I made it exactly as per the recipe's instructions to make for an accurate photograph. I made it for my mum on Mother's Day and hardly anybody went for a second slice like they do for my usual cakes. I guess we are not big fans of cinnamon so I probably won't make this one again.

This was way too sweet for my taste. I wonder if it's because I used 'maple flavoured' syrup instead of pure syrup?

I should have read other reviews before making this one....way too much milk! I could only serve it to my 12 month old son and even then I had to dish it out with a slotted spoon to drain the liquid away. Good flavour though and it was easy to make.
