Cocoa Oatmeal Cookies

Excellent cookies, I just made them. Easy to make, simple ingredients and SO yummy, perfectly moist and don't overly spread out on the sheet. I will make these again soon because I know they won't last the weekend!

Apple Pecan Cobbler

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2009
I really love this recipe. So easy and simple and even a little forgiving (I used regular milk and walnuts instead of pecans) and it came out simply delicious and perfectly right on all quantities (sweet enough as is!). The bottom does come appart so I am plannig to make some crust for the bottom, lay the apples and top as per recipe. Otherwise, I would totally make this again!

Slow Cooker Stuffing

I have played around with this recipe a few times - since I am making it for Rosh Hashana I added some chopped Granny Smith apples in place of the celery and through in some pecans. In the past I have added pine nuts or roasted chestnuts - both of which add some interesting flavor.

Cottage Cheese Loaf I

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2009
I really loved this. The only change that I made was to use branflakes instead of cornflakes (they were what I had on hand) but I think I'll keep that as it gave it a nice colour and flavour. I made this also for my husband who loves meat (meat makes me gag) as something we could eat together but he said "It looks like chopped liver". Argh! The one meaty thing he doesn't like. I loved it: 5 stars!

No Bake Cheesecake I

I made this for my husband's birthday and we both loved it! I kept everything the same except that I added a layer of my own lemon curd recipe in between the biscuit and the cheese- gave it a bit of zing.

Sour Cream Pound Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2009
Great little cake! I followed advice from others for lowering heat but mostly made it as is. I added lemon zest, lemon essence, white chocolate chips and yellow food colouring. I baked it in a silicone dish and then I also glazed it with a lemon glaze - Everyone keeps asking for more! My next twist will be oranges and bittersweet chocolate chips. YUM!

Pineapple Chicken Delight

Reviewed: May 9, 2009
We loved this recipe at home... I made a few changes to it. Instead of using green peppers I made it with red peppers, added some carrots, potatoes, and pineapple chunks- I stuffed a whole chicken with the veggies and slow cooked it in the oven for a few hours... it was awesome! Thanks.

Swiss Chard with Garbanzo Beans and Fresh Tomatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2009
What a great way to put swiss chard and garbanzo beans together. I came home with these 2 ingredients and love this recipe. I did add more onion and garlic because I love those but I twisted it with cumin, now it has a Moroccan flavour to it and it is DELICIOUS. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2009
This is a fairly good recipe:) I would say that it makes 10-12 servings rather than just 6. I did not add spinach as I don't like it, but felt that it was missing cumin, so I added about 2 tsp of cumin and that did the trick. It's a really nice easy recipe.

One Egg Lemon Pound Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2008
It's a good recipe if you're out of eggs! I felt the need to upgrade it: I gave up the lemon essence (natural stuff is better by far!) & added 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice + rind.Instead of milk I used 1 cup orange juice + rind + 1 tbsp honey + 5 mashed dates + 1 finely grated carrot. I used wholemeal flour + 1 tsp baking powder + some crushed almonds. I made muffins instead of cake and they were yummy as well as healthy (my kids took them to school)

Light Oat Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2008
I don't have a bread machine, but I was impressed with how easy it was to make this bread. Like other cooks did, I prepared the dry ingredients and mixed the wet ones separately, then kneaded the dough for at least 10 minutes. Once the first leavening took place, I punched it down and added herbs and onion, then let it sit again for another 30 minutes. I baked as per the instructions and It ended up as a savoury herb and onion oat bread. I also agree that the crust was ever so tasty when the bread is warm or cold. I will surely be keeping this recipe for anytime I feel like making homemade bread! Thanks for sharing.
