Italian Fish Fillets

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2008
This recipe was easy to make, but too bland for my liking. It needs to be pepped up. Next time, I will pan fry the fish before adding it to the sauce. The sauce could do with some garlic. Hopefully, that will improve the flavour.

An excellent salad! Loved the toasted croutons. Couldn't wait for it to stand for 20 min - it was polished off immediately!

Grilled Italian Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2008
This recipe's great! i used it for our group project in garde manger class (cold kitchen and my groupmates totally loved it. Everyone asked for the recipe. i made a few alterations though... no italian bread crumbs? we just used plain bread crumbs and mixed 1/2 part italian seasoning. we also added a big pinch of salt and pepper. it totally brought out the flavor of the beef. And Instead of cooking it on the grill, we just seared it on a pan grill to get the beautiful grill marks then finished cooking the burgers in the oven for about 5-8min, it depends on your preferred doneness of the burger. instead of putting it on a bun, we wrapped it in tortilla wrap with lettuce, tomato slices and light mayo then put it on a hot dry pan to brown the tortilla and give it a nice crunch. :) awsome recipe! thanks a bunch.

I haven't tried making these yet, but I just love Stroopwaffels from Holland! My Aunt went there and brought home two small boxes. I fell in love with them straight away! Never thought of finding a recipe, then lo! and behold, here's one!

Oh my God! This was just too good! And so easy too. I served them with vanilla icecream on the side. The hot pudding and the cold icecream will transport you to another level!

Chocolate Crinkles II

Reviewed: May 25, 2008
I've made these so many times and they always turn out! Make sure to coat them with enough powdered sugar to get them to "crinkle." Here are some suggestions: Divide the dough into two and spread it out in a plate. Put it in the freezer for 30-45 minutes. Before forming them into balls, get your hands wet so they won't stick to them. You might have to pop them back in the freezer if it's a hot day just DON'T try to handle them when they're warm because you will just be wasting your time. Also, get creative with them! I've made them with cinnamon one time and I coated them with powdered sugar mixed with cinnamon and those turned out GREAT :)

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: May 25, 2008
I've made these cookies at least 20 times since I found this recipe last summer. Absolutely great! Everyone who has had them have said that they are the best chocolate chip oatmeal cookies they've EVER had! Just a few suggestions: Half the amount of salt. I'm not saying this as a matter of preference. 1 teaspoon is too much and ends up making them taste like salted cookies. The best kind of butter to use is unsalted sweet cream butter. Never make the mistake of substituting margarine for the butter or they will turn out very oily. Also, depending on how powerful your oven is, the baking time is between 10 - 12 minutes at 325 degrees -- no more, no less! If you let them stay for a minute over 12, they will not be as chewy.

Easy Garlic Broiled Chicken

Reviewed: May 25, 2008
This was a great easy recipe for chicken. The amount of garlic MADE this recipe. Because I love garlic, I added a couple more tablespoons the 2nd time I made it. I don't really know what the parsley was supposed to do because I couldn't taste it. Here are some suggestions: Like a lot of other people, I bake it at 375 for about 40-45 minutes to avoid dealing with a smokey oven. Instead of using store bought minced garlic, I use fresh garlic and I grate it. Use herbes de provence in place of the parsley. I serve them with a salsa made up of diced onion, diced tomatoes and diced navel orange mixed with chopped fresh parsley and salt to taste.

Indian Style Basmati Rice

Reviewed: May 20, 2008
This is a good recipe. However, you can make a few changes to imrove it. If you wish to serve the rice looking white instead of brown, don't allow the onions to colour - cook them till they are just about to turn golden. Also, if you use ghee instead of oil, the aroma will be absolutely heavenly! Add a few bay leaves too. You can turn this into a vegetable pulao by adding diced carrots, beans, peas, cauliflower and potato; and increasing the water content slightly. A great way to make children eat their veggies!

Fettuccine Alfredo III

Reviewed: May 17, 2008
This recipe is so simple that I can actually make it in less than an hour and still do all my work! My sisters loved the recipe as well! Although the amount of butter that I place is way too buttery, I can say that it still tastes good... I haven't tried it with fettucini yet, but I can say that it tastes good with angel hair pasta, cheese (not parmesan) and lots of pepper...

Lumpia (Shanghai version)

Reviewed: May 16, 2008
I love lumpiang shanghai, and this is a good recipe. However, I definitely only use ground pork because the beef is too heavy, in my opinion. I also add minced water chestnuts, and that gives a little more texture. I have used green onions in place of regular onions, too, and either way has been good.

Amy's Cilantro Cream Sauce

Reviewed: May 16, 2008
I had all the ingredients available, so I decided to try this dish. It was soooo good! It reminded me of the green sauces that I would get at Mexican restaurants in the area. I also added serrano peppers and used a pretty spicy tomatillo sauce, and that gave the dip a great kick. Thanks for the recipe!

This was amazing!... I used 1/2 cup of coconut and 1 tsp coconut extract as some had suggested... I also added 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips b/c I LOVE chocolate and coconut together...MMMM... I was actually able to make 12 muffins w/ the additions and the streusel topping was enough for the extra... I had no problems with the topping running off... wonderful recipe!

My husband and I agreed that this was probably the best chicken recipe ever! I followed this exactly and it was delicious!... I've also tried it with the "gravy" mixture that another review suggested and I thought it was good... but not as good as it is without it. This will be a fam fav!
