So yummy! Before serving, I added a few drops of sesame oil and sprinkle on toasted sesame seeds.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Delicious and so easy to make! When I have time, I use fresh minced ginger. I also put foil on top to cover. It keeps the chicken tender but I remove the foil in the last 20 minutes.

Jumpin' Java Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
My cookies turned into mini-cakes! I wish I could give this a better rating as they turned out tasty even though they didn't have much of a coffee taste, but that's why I'm giving a lesser rating: It's supposed to be a coffee cookie, but lacks the coffee flavor. I decided to top these with coffee-flavored icing since they turned out like fat mini-cakes and my family really liked that. I'm going to play around with the recipe more. I think it needs 2-3 tablespoons of coffee liqueur. I also decided to use coconut instead of raisins, which turned out well. Also threw in some chocolate powder after reading the reviews and saw it didn't have much of a coffee flavor; might as well taste like chocolate! As a side, add cooled coffee instead of "piping hot" to keep the batter from liquifying. Then refrigerate at least an hour afterwards to help shape it. Anyway, I'll come back to this. :).

Blender Hollandaise Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
This is super easy to make and tastes so good! My husband is used to having his hollandaise sauce from the restaurant a bit blander, and was pleasantly surprised to find out how full of flavor this one was. We really liked it over our breakfast crepes, thanks!

I made a smaller version of this using only one bag of frozen corn because I didn't exactly want that much corn left over.

Wheat Germ Whole-Wheat Buttermilk Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2008
My husband decided to make these for breakfast while the older kids and I were asleep. He came and woke us up very excitedly and said he had some wholesome and fluffy pancakes ready for us. Lol. He decided to add mixed berries to the mix, and they were still very good.

Spaghetti Sauce II

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2008
This was great, thank you. For my substitutions, I used a 26oz bottle of strained tomatoes instead of whole peeled tomatoes. For one, my Organic co-op doesn't have whole peeled tomatoes, and for two, the strained makes great pasta sauce (it even says so on the bottle, lol!) Also, it didn't exactly tell you what to do with the Italian sausage, so my idea was to take it out of the casing (I got my sausage uncooked, NOT smoked like they usually sell) and crumbled it. Then I added all this to the sauce pot. Other than that, I will definitely be using this recipe again! UPDATE: I made this with some different tomato paste and noticed a mistake I made. The tomato paste was naturally sweet and as I didn't take this into account I added the sugar anyway. Needless to say, it was way too sweet! Be sure to try your tomato paste before you throw it in. If it is sweet, do not add sugar!

Country Morning Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2008
This recipe was great!! We went ahead with the raisins and not being much of a raisin family, it still came out well. My family loved it. I'm not exactly sure how the recipe came out thick or dry for some people. The batter was very creamy and spread on easily. After it came out it was light and moist! Very good - I plan on making another batch (it was super easy to whip up) to bring to a friend. Thank you for this recipe!

These turned out great! I heeded some reviewers' warnings to make sure to keep the wontons moist, so we cut paper towel sheets into four squares, wet them, and placed a wonton wrapper in between each moistened towel square.

Lowcountry Shrimp and Cheese Grits

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
This was an interesting meal I would have never thought tasted good together (shrimp AND grits). I tried it out with grits I had made previously for breakfast. Instead of putting garlic spread, I used garlic powder and slowly added cheddar cheese until it melted. Next time I will try adding crushed cloves of garlic and letting the flavor mix into the meal for a bit like you do when you're making alfredo. All in all, the family thought it turned out pretty well.

Mom's Country Gravy

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
This was great, thanks! We followed the advice of one of the reviewers on the roux and it turned out nicely, thank you. This is a great basic recipe that you can add many things to: sausage drippings, used oil from frying vegetables, etc. We used the oil from frying vegetables route. It turned out nicely, although it had a light brown color instead of the traditional white of country gravy.

Buttermilk Biscuits III

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
Our biscuits turned out great! We served them with a country gravy recipe found on here and everyone loved them. The first time I made them I used a left-over oil blend from frying vegetables. The second time around I used regular ol' shortening with a wee bit of salt. I used whole wheat flour instead the second time and it still turned out great.

Dirt Cake I

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2008
This was awesome. I made it for my daughter's birthday party and I was surprised there were a lot of people there who didn't even know what a dirt cake was! You definitely have to go the 'whole nine yards' and get a pot and a fake flower to sit on top of it. We got both at the 99 Cent store and it was well worth it for 'effect'!

Tofu Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2008
I loved this recipe and it definitely came out well. I had accidentally forgotten to get the snow peas at the grocery store, but substituted with regular peas and added some Gorgonzola beans to make up for the crunch as I love crunch. I'm huge on flavor, so I did end up adding more soy sauce as a "dressing", but otherwise this recipe was excellent!!

Mango Sorbet

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2008
I saw a comment on here about how to make ice cream without the ice cream maker and since I have the exact same problem, I found this on the internet: Make sure you have a bowl that’s quite wide to use for the churning/freezing process that comes next. Take your ice cream recipe mixture and carefully pour it into the bowl, then chill in the fridge for up to 2 hours, checking on it after 1 hour. The reason it can take longer than an hour is when a recipe mixture has had cooked ingredients added, therefore thorough chilling will take longer. Take the bowl out of the fridge and transfer to the freezer for about half an hour. Then check just how much the mixture has frozen - ideally, it should have started to freeze at the edges but not fully through to the centre. Take the bowl out of the freezer and beat the ice cream mixture until it’s creamy once again (to dislodge and break up the ice crystals that have formed). Put it back in the freezer for another half hour, then remove and once again beat with a whisk. Do this again so that you have beaten the mixture a total of 3 times whilst freezing in between. Put the mixture back into the freezer for a final time until it’s ready to eat. This can take anything from 30 minutes upwards, depending upon the quantity and type of ice cream you’re making and also how you like the consistency of your ice cream (some people like it softer, some harder).
