Republic of Korea (South)

South Korea, located on the southern tip of the Korean peninsula, has one of the highest population densities and is one of the most ethnically homogenous populations in the world. Based on traditional foods and preparation techniques, the typical South Korean meal includes steamed rice, soup, and three to four side dishes. Spicy and robust flavors are characteristic of Korean cuisine, which includes red chili paste, fermented soybean paste, soy sauce, and garlic. Korean specialties include bulgogi (thinly sliced beef marinated and cooked on a grill), and bibimbap (rice topped with vegetables, beef, egg, and chili pepper paste). Kimchi, probably one of the best known Korean foods, consists of vegetables such as cabbage, radish, or cucumber fermented in a highly seasoned and often spicy brine.

Big Batch Kris Kringle Cookies

I found these cookies easy to make and delicious. The cranberry tartness goes wonderfully with the sweet white chocolate. The pecans add a great texture. I will definitely make again.

Robbi's M&M Cookies

Reviewed on Dec. 3, 2009 by Sophie
I made these for my friend's birthday potluck and everyone loved them. I thought the cookies would be sweet without the m&ms so I only put in a half cup in the batter and pushed one or two candies into the cookies after they were dropped on the pan. The only problem I had with these cookies were that they spread out a lot more than I thought they would. In my second batch I piled the drops up higher and spaced the cookies out on the pan and I came out with much prettier looking cookies.

The sauce burned and there wasn't a lot of flavor.
