About this Cook
I am in my 30s, love to cook and I am a workaholic. I enjoy keeping my mind busy preparing and organizing. I love to cook new meals, as well as those passed down through the family. I would have to say I get more enjoyment out of cooking now that I have someone who absolutely loves my food. I also am a poet and enjoy relaxing in my hammock while writing.
My favorite things to cook
Southern food, italian food and slow cooker meals are my favorites. I enjoy my stuffed peppers, goulash, meatloaf and mashed potates, baked ziti and homemade mac and cheese. I really have found a passion lately in baking cakes. My favorite thing to cook is anything my man wants from his past, memories that involve his father and grandparents especially - they are no longer with him and this way I can bring a part of those memories back for him if even for a moment.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother taught me how to make homemade biscuits when I was a little girl and to this day I am the only woman in the family besides her that can make them the way she does. That is a tradition for all family functions and I am glad to be able to stand beside her when she brags about how good they are. I will get to carry that on for the family one day.
My cooking triumphs
I think I look at every meal as a triumph. It is a craft to create a comforting meal for the family and a talent that some people just don't share. It is all a creation.
My cooking tragedies
Fried chicken - the first time I cooked this for my husband when we were first married...it just never got done!! I wasn't able to cook fried chicken until I found a great recipe on this website that was step by step and incredible!!

Cucumber Salad I
I followed the quantity as the directions stated and used white onion instead of red. I thought it came out great.

Mexican Layered Dip
A favorite for movie time or as a snack between meals. I use this sometimes as an appetizer before tacos or serve with the large Fritos for when there are a bunch of kids over. They really like it (-minus the black olives, lol).

Chicken Fried Chicken
This is the only fried chicken recipe I was ever able to make correctly and have the flavor I was looking for. I do use the cutlets with this recipe but every time the chicken comes out wonderful.
