About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I must say I am a master at baking cookies, especially chocolate chip. Everyone begs me to bake for them. I love making Turtle Cookies. They're basically sugar cookies with a dollop of caramel, 4 pecans and a dollop of chocolate on top. Mmmm, mmmm, tasty! And pretty too!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family doesn't really have many cooking traditions. The thing that sticks out most in my mind is going to grandma's house every Sunday for fried chicken, mashed potatoes, homemade cole slaw, green beans, and lots of other really good things. :)
My cooking triumphs
I don't have any "triumphs".
My cooking tragedies
Hmmm. Which ones to pick? There was the time I dropped a bowl of nacho cheese, and it cracked on the floor and shot burning hot cheese all over my leg. There are the many batches of cookies that have fallen flat. Just recently, I scorched a turkey beyond recognition.

D's Famous Salsa
I was looking for a salsa recipe that would taste similar to my favorite authentic Mexican restaurant, and this one makes a great base. The first time I made it, I followed directions exactly, and it was very good. Then, I made a few changes to try to get it to match my favorite restaurant's. I had to use dried cilantro, because I didn't have any fresh available. I used about 1 1/2 Tbsp. And, I used about 3 Tbsp of lime juice. I also added a little black pepper. With these changes, I was extremely happy with the results. My husband said, "That's better than you can buy in the store!" :)

Marinated Pork Tenderloin
This recipe gets five stars from me AND my picky husband! I didn't have sherry, so I used 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and enough chicken broth to make 1/2 cup (searched online for a substitute.) I double the marinade portion of the recipe. I baked the tenderloins at 425 for about 25 minutes, then thickened the marinade, and served it all with roasted potatoes and steamed broccoli. It was amazing!! Definitely a keeper! My husband suggested I make it again this weekend, when we have guests coming over. :)

Sweet and Sour Chicken I
I followed this recipe exactly and absolutely loved the chicken batter!! I didn't think the sauce was very good, so I will look for another to pair with the chicken.
