About this Cook
An artist at heart I always try to add my personal touch to things! Cooking is so flexible that when Ive conquered the act itself I should be ready to create some interesting dishes!!
My favorite things to cook
Baking has always been my fav! I absolutely adore cookies! Ive realized though that I might have a type of cooking ADD because Id much rather prepare and bake or slow cook than sit over the cooktop all night!! Especially since I commute to work, my slow cooker has become my best friend!
My favorite family cooking traditions
With a family of all girls, my grandmother being from Oaklahoma, Ive had a few traditions handed down but not many unfortunately. Baking is big in my family, I was baking cookies by nine, and cakes shortly after. Grandma married and moved out at 18 so she took what she had learned and taught herself the rest, she thought it important that we do the same. In our family being a good hostess is almost as important as the food itself, setting the table, having appetizers, nice serving pieces, etc. Its all about spending time with friends and family, not for religious holidays, or Hallmark holidays, but because thats the joy of life!
My cooking triumphs
From allrecipes Ive baked the BEST Apple Pies!! AND I now adore Meatloaf, Cajun Meatloaf that is!
My cooking tragedies
Im not too good at judging spices, I seem to never add enough salt...or something. Im not able to just come up with something or cook without a recipe. Another thing is I usually dont taste my food before its done, I almost get full just cooking and wouldnt want to ruin dinner, haha.

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese
Ive only had Mac and Cheese out of a box once when I was younger and didnt like it at all, so whenever I had the chance to try anyone else's I refused. Now that Ive made plenty of baked dishes with meat I wanted to try this and it came out great! The only alterations I made were adding onion and bacon, still used the full cup of bread crumbs because I like the texture and didnt add any milk as reviewers suggested as I prefer a cheesier texture. This was perfect, will make again but double the cheddar!

Big Soft Ginger Cookies
The only alterations I made to these were using 1/3 cup Brown Sugar with 2/3 White Sugar and 1/4 cup Butter with 1/2 cup Margarine and placed the dough in the fridge for 20 minutes (I made these alterations by preference and reviews). When shaping the dough I flattened them a bit before 'flipping' them in sugar so they would be wide and they turned out fabulous! There's no airtight jar needed! They might feel hard outside when a day old (if they last that long) but they melt in your mouth!! Some might say they are too sweet but the sugar is a great contrast to the mild yet flavorful spices.
