I just love autumn!!  I wish life wasn't so busy this time of year because I would just love to sit and stare at the world without a care in the world!  I love to cook, but in the summer time it's often a decision whether I want a hot house or not.  So needless to say, I don't… MORE

About this Cook
I am a stay-at-home mommy of 4 beautiful children ages 10, 7, 5 & 1. We home school and are very active in our church where I am president over the children's program. I love to garden and use the veggies there in my cooking. Right now I have a year long weight loss goal I am working on. Check out my story with before and during photos: http://bnkweightlossjourney.blogspot.com/
My favorite things to cook
Tasty food that is simple, real food that everyone enjoys eating. Nothing fancy, but very flavorful and healthy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Since our family is still on the young side we are creating our own cooking traditions. In the family in which I grew up, we have wonderfully, home cooked meals at each holiday. Buying from the store isn't an option!
My cooking triumphs
I like to stick to recipes until I have mastered them, and then I like to get creative. Not crazy creative, just a little. Thankfully, I typically have triumphs, probably because I am not too adventurous.
My cooking tragedies
Haven't had a cooking tragedy since I was a young child learning to cook. Probably because I stick to proven recipes to the letter. When I was first married, I wasn't anything special in the kitchen. From cooking dinner nearly every night fort he last 13 years, I have become quite the cook, people tell me. Now I have probably jinxed myself... :o)**I totally did too! This morning I woke up to make popovers and I totally screwed up with the timing. I hope I can salvage them!** :o( And this also jogged my memory. A few years ago I bought salt and sugar in bulk. I stored them into smaller containers and I ended up mismarking one. When I made some zucchini bread with salt instead of sugar, THAT WAS A TRAGEDY!

Banana Pumpkin Bread
I followed the suggestions on cooking and it still didn't work. I used two pans, added some time (45min)and they are still gooey in the middle! Will not make again!

Best Beef Stroganoff
We enjoyed this!!! For years I have been making stroganoff with Cream of Mushroom soup. When I learned that there is MSG and other chemicals in the soup that isn't good for you, I wanted to find something that was better, something that used natural ingredients. This was perfect..and easy!
