I think some of the best foods and meals I've ever enjoyed have been outdoor occasions. Fancy-term: "dining al fresco." I like dining al fresco! That does sound super-fancy, but for me it's more like grilling and having dinner on the patio, or a shore lunch when fishing, a picnic… MORE

About this Cook
I'm a casual everyday type of cook but I do make a few dishes rather well. I also like to garden and grow my own produce: greens, tomatos, and herbs.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are: pizzas, fish and seafood, pasta, and vegetable dishes. I also like to grill and my favorite thing to grill is fish, especially salmon.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite family tradition is pizza on Christmas Eve. The tradition goes back many years and it probably started because we open presents on Chrismas Eve and making pizza kept everyone busy!
My cooking triumphs
I make a pretty darn good pizza.
My cooking tragedies
It's hard to admit but I have burned a pan of water! The lesson learned is to stay in the kitchen when cooking because I get distracted easily!

Halibut with Zesty Peach Salsa
I chose this recipe because I bought a box of ripe peaches straight from the farm. I grilled the halibut, but had to use fillets as there weren't any halibut steaks at the store. The peach salsa was amazing. The halibut and peaches combine to make a very delicate taste, and the citrus and red onion in the salsa give a nice kick. I served the fish and salsa with rice; it made a colorful plate and a tasty summer dinner.
