Do you have a turkey in the freezer? Remember to pull it out of the freezer on Monday and put it in the fridge to thaw (allow one day of thawing time for every five pounds of meat. For more thawing tips, see our Turkey Tips article). What kind of pie do you serve—or do you serve multiple… MORE

...and no, we don't mean anything to do with the swine flu. We've noticed cooks decorating their profiles with Halloween finery: Scotdog is all smiles these days. ChristineD's house is already haunted, while Blazer's still celebrating the harvest. Cat Lady Cyndi's showing that there's no pl MORE

We're not the only ones excited about Halloween: MrsAudirsch is already thinking about recipes to take to a Halloween party (candy apples, pumpkin fudge, and Halloween Eye of Newt are all good choices) and what kind of costume to wear. I_Luv_Halloween was getting in the holiday spirit early this MORE

The Merry Cooksters have noticed a lot of cooks updating their user profile photos for the upcoming July Fourth holiday. Scotdog is appearing as a flag 'n' fireworks with "July 4th" on her profile pic. Pam-3BoysMama has a gallery of fireworks photos, complete with ooohs and ahhhhhs and wo MORE

The Fourth of July is the best summer holiday. There's something for everyone: a parade for the kids, a barbeque with friends for the grown-ups, and the fun of explosions for the teenagers (either exploding hot dogs on the grill or firecrackers, if they're legal in your area). In most parts of… MORE

What are you making for your Memorial Day cookout? Burgers or dogs? Chicken or ribs? Potato salad or macaroni salad? ProudToBeAnAmerican is baking a flag cake and making the Antipasto Pasta Salad. Denise D. is going to be baking her chicken rather than barbequing, because her grill broke!… MORE

Just over a decade ago, Seattle canceled its Memorial Day parade. “The Veterans Memorial Association decided against requesting a permit for the parade this year, citing lack of interest by the public in participating and the inability to attract spectators along the parade's waterfront route.”… MORE

What are your Mother's Day traditions? Breakfast in bed never worked in our households—Mom was always the first one out of bed. But a bouquet of her favorite flowers was always nice, and we did try to cook meals for her. Sometimes we'd go out for brunch or dinner, but restaurants… MORE

About Me
We LOVE the holidays. We're thinking Thanksgiving about the time most people are firing up their Memorial Day barbecues. Any occasion to eat and drink and entertain has the Merry Cooksters in a cooking-fat-fueled frenzy.
My favorite things to cook
Lorem Ipsum is a certified (certifiable?) mixologist. Mackenzie is a perfectionist when it comes to a good cup of coffee. Jenny is a quasi-vegetarian who cooks meat for others and will occasionally eat bacon. Noel, a restaurant kitchen refugee, won't turn down bacon, either. Frances gets her kicks from all things dough-related, while Foodelicious faces the daily challenge of feeding a busy family (including a young teenager whose appetite is growing as rapidly as his shoe size). FrogHopper loves to experience the holidays through her children's eyes. Keri's kids like her homemade bread enough to brag about it. SueB's family members have all won ribbons at the state fair for their recipe creations.
