About this Cook
I grew up as a child of a single parent who worked. As soon as I was able, I was in the kitchen trying to make different things! Now a'days, I'm always looking for new recipes to get my family to get out of their comfort food zone.
My favorite things to cook
Anything on the grill (we actually grill all year - even in the snow) and I LOVE making and decorating cupcakes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. For me that means that I will be surrounded by family that I do not get to see as often. I usually prepare everything from appetizers to dessert. My mom still makes her traditional stuffing.
My cooking triumphs
Hands down, pit beef made just right (medium rare, of course) and a meatloaf that DH swears by.
My cooking tragedies
Awww, this is so sad. When I was about 12 I decided to make my mom a special 2-layer cake. I put two cake mixes together and divided them up in two pans (can you see where this is going?) ... Needless to say, they overflowed the pan and when I tried to take the cakes out, they cracked down the middle. I called my mom crying over the whole thing.

Spicy Maryland Crab Dip
Very good traditional Maryland crab dip. I recommend adding the old bay a little at a time and tasting as you go. Old bay can get very salty quickly. I used the shredded cheese blend that has cream cheese in it! Served with toasted bread, yummy!

BLT Pasta Salad
Yummy! I did have to make a few changes based on previous reviews ... I used 1.5 cups bacon ranch dressing and 1/2 cup creamy garlic Italian (the pasta soaks up a lot of the dressing). I also added peas and used red onion instead of regular chopped onions. I added cheddar cheese crumbles and used drained fire roasted diced tomatoes. This is a keeper in my house! Can't wait to eat leftovers.

Jalapeno Popper Spread
This was fantastic! I followed other recommendations and made the following changes: used the whole 4oz. Can of jalapeƱos, used light cream cheese & light mayo, added about 1/2 cup cheddar cheese to cream cheese mixture, topped with fresh shaved parm & panko bread crumbs and baked in the oven for 30 minutes. Served this with toasted bread rounds! The whole house loved it.
