Springtime Cake

Rolled Buttercream Fondant

I used the Rolled Buttercream fondant to cover this cake. I had to add an extra 1/2 cup of confectioners sugar to stiffen the dough enough. If I were to make a ribbon or bow, it would need to be stiffened more. I used icing coloring to color the purple sections, and just regular food coloring for the blue/green/pink. I colored small sections of the fondant and added 1 drop of food coloring, kneading the dough to spread the color throughout. I wore latex gloves to keep the coloring off my hands. I rolled the colors out, and cut the shapes with my cookie cutters, and then used a small circle to cut out the dots. This was my very first time making and using a rolled fondant.
