APPLE CRUMBLE PIZZA PIE
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
Pastry
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
5 ½ ounces Crisco
¼ to 1/3 cup cold water
Place flour in a medium bowl, add salt and mix in with fork. Weigh shortening and put in bowl with flour. Work shortening into flour with hands until it resembles coarse cornmeal. Add cold water and gently form into a ball. Roll out on a floured surface until it is large enough to fit a 12” pizza pan. Line pan and flute edges.
Filling
4 or 5 golden delicious apples
½ cup sugar
½ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
Quarter and core apples but do not peel. Slice ½ inch thick and arrange on dough in overlapping pattern. Making sure the apples cover all of the crust. Combine sugar and spices and sprinkle evenly over apples.
Topping
¾ cup flour
½ cup sugar
½ cup firm butter
Combine flour and sugar, cut in butter until it makes a crumbly mixture. Distribute evenly over top. Sprinkle with additional cinnamon if desired.
